Had a blast with the demo

Recently came across this game and gave the demo a try. After configuring the controller and mouse sensitivity a bit, I was going nuts.

The gunplay, enemy chatter and slo-mo give me all kinds of nostalgia feels.

A few nitpicks here and there, but nothing major. The biggest one is wishing the Focus would recharge like the cloak does.

Don't get me wrong, I get what you're going for with it being recharged based on kills, but that just makes me play more conservatively instead of going full F.E.A.R.

Other than that, I had some amazing moments. One time, I slid into enemies while focusing, causing one to flip in front of me. I was trying to shotgun the guy next to him, but ended up gibbing the first guy instead. Awesome.

Also, for your next iteration of the demo, can you show the controller keys I've mapped onscreen along with the keyboard prompts at places?

i feel like the focus charging with each kill is good, when you kill enemies it rewards you with more than just survival.

Yeah, but the weapon recoil and bullet spread, along with the graphics, makes it hard to hit anything. I either have to focus or shoot at close range with a lot of the weapons.

I hope this game has some smaller cross-hairs and I wouldn't mind if this game had leaning in it since that's what F.E.A.R. had. Since the game doesn't have ADS it would at least even the playing field with leaning and make the game feel more tactical. Other than that I think the game is ok but that's probably from it being a demo, but I really want to play F.E.A.R. and if this doesn't do that better than it's going to be hard to want to play this instead.

If you want to play F.E.A.R, you should know you're late to being the point man (unless you rocked it over a decade ago). That was kinda so 2004.

"Team17 Presents... Trepang2 is unlike anything you've played before". What we have here is a shameless copy - paste of literally everything F.E.A.R had. From enemy / map and guns to the music. I have to think super hard to find stuff unrelated to F.E.A.R out of this title. Maybe the Asian face on the soldiers if you don't count the obvious bits.

Generally I would hate on completely unoriginal stuff like this, but this is the exception. Reason being F.E.A.R was such a successful game, and we haven't gotten games that ripped F.E.A.R off this much. So they took an amazing game as their base and re-did it in UE4 in many ways.

How come is that? They're claiming the game is nothing like I've ever played before and I played literally all the F.E.A.R 1 titles and their ModDB mods. There's nothing original in this game. It's a literal copy pasta of F.E.A.R save for the way the guy reloads the shotgun... lol.

I went to their Discord and even the community is about as toxic as a F.E.A.R online server. So they're doing a good job at being F.E.A.R the way it was, plagiarism is the key to success in this case you know.

I don't like how much the game crashes and the unoriginal bits with the punctuation in the game either... makes you feel like you're playing a cheap Asian copy of F.E.A.R and the name Trepang is equally as silly.

It sounds like Trepang2 and its community aren't what you're looking for. That's ok, glad you were able to try the demo and make your decision.

By the way, do you know around what part of the demo you encountered the crashes? We're pretty serious about finding and fixing those kinds of issues and any info is appreciated.

It sounds like you have zero reading comprehension. Maybe you should try going back to a library and picking up some English books regarding that, before working on the game. I actually said I liked the game quite a bit, but hated on the unoriginal side of the things. Also if it ever gets a multiplayer portion, I can guess what it'll be like with that JOKE of a meme filled community of yours.

I crash literally in every part. Crashed couple tens of times regardless of what settings I changed.

the simple fact it is not any fear's 1:1 copy in ue4 by a rigorous sense, even down to core gameplay. lotsa conceptual elements are tweaked or implemented differently, some basically absent, and the assets are not ripped-off literally speaking.
that is a myriad of details you may deem negligible and sure k, but i bet calling it plagiarism or c/p sounds woefully hyperbolic to a sizeable amount of people, to say the least.

that said really cannot relate to your seemingly pissed reaction towards the game as a whole, my dude. ofc marketing is overhyping af and ofc you can make links by the hundreds with fear, but that is no big deal in my book. some high level originality is no necessary condition at all for a game to play gud afaik.

Your computer is literal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ then. If you want to lecture people on English, then I want you to start with Plagiarism. "I played every F.E.A.R. 1 title!" Really? Have you studied the core of F.E.A.R.? No, did you spend eight to ten hours a day playing the campaign for nearly two years when it was released and actually did a school assignment based around the game itself because it was so good that it was still with you 4 years later?
