Sinking Simulator

Sinking Simulator

Is there a fully 3D sinking simulation of any sort out there?
Like say we create a 3D structure in autocad or 3ds max or Unreal Engine or whatever and then submerge it in water and watch it sink in full 3d....

probably, but i doubt that it would be free. im sure there is simulation software out there for engineers or whoever that would benefit from it. i believe the Titanic movie used a simulation to sink the CGI of the ship if i remember correctly

CGI? That movie was made in 1997. They had to remake most of the ship for the movie.

"One of the best uses of CGI was in James Cameron's "Titanic." In shots of the boat, Cameron took live action footage of actors (hanging out on board or jumping into the water) and digitally placed them onboard the model. The result was so convincing it befuddled even the legendary critic Roger Ebert."

I just watched again Titanic today lol, that's why I'm here.

I read a bit after watching it about special effects. Titanic ship is not CGI, it's a full size reproduction model used for the movie (only one side). Cameron recreate this incredible full replica then sunk it again in a gigantic pool.

For the complete Titanic where you can see it travelling in high seas from above, they used full replica but not the real size.

The only game I know that gives an halfway decent 3D sinking experience would be Stormworks

otherwise you might want to wait for The Titanic Honour and Glory / Britannic game coming.

If you don't mind using torpedoes or firing guns, then Silent Hunter wouldn't be bad

stormworks indeed.

Stormworks is ideal because you can make the boat exactly how you want to and see what happens in different scenarios. The physics model is really quite good.

sinking simulator should be a part of stormworks really :D

if we want a fully 3d, realistic sinking simulator, it would take quite a while for that idea to come to fruition. id just recommend modding beamNG drive for boats (and there are already boat mods in the game). calculating water physics does NOT play kind with a processor, let alone simulating the submerging of something within said body of water. real-time destruction will also wreak havoc on your computer, think about all the different parts that need to be calculated. if a game that did all of this was ever made, there would probably be no vehicle editor.

I was just going to say that, The best one at the minute is Stormworks, Although there are games in the works such as Titanic HG, and there is the britannic one on the steam store which simulates its sinking

Or learn ue4 or unity and make it yourself
