Make sure you haven't tried to load a Texture instead of a ship or a modded ship
if you try to load a texture for a ship it won't load properly and the whole thing will be broken
If you try to load a modded ship, part of the ship may be missing
If you're sure you did it properly, can you let me know which ships didn't work?
Perhaps even post a screenshot or something?
Other dissolve in a second as they touch the water, like something thrown in an acid pool.
Both loading the ship into the main windows or in the left panel.
Maybe are made with an early version of the game? And i noted that they all lack the structure files, there's only the texture, maybe a faulty pack?
Made some intense tests too:
The Anthigity's creations, despite beign slower, works fine.
But some of the basic ships have issues: (png names and problemi got, vanilla settings)
Carnival_Dream_WIP (flood)
interiortexture (huge and slow, 2959% usage, 3% speed, and only some small parts are drawn, everything else it's transparent)
Lusitania_1915_FINAL (flood in the rear side)
MS Quantum of the Seas (flood)
PM_Cargo (flood in the rear)
PM_Goliath (Both structure and texture dissolve)
PM_Pacmaster (both structure and texture dissolve)
RMS_Queen_Mary_2 (flood on the front)
S.S_Brandon (flood on the rear)
SailShip (Flood and crack in the rear side)
ship (flood)
Ship2 (the front sink and load water)
SS Pacmaster (flood)
TitanicBig (slight degrade on the rear as it touches water)
TitanicHuge (degradation on the lower side)
Those maybe are early tests, but i loaded too
unknown (4) (load water in the front, sink and dissolve in a second)
Untitled (structure almost collapse and some part of the ship dissolve in water)
My rig:
Windows 10 x64
AMD Fx-8350
Asus nVidia GTX 970 Strix
16gb ram
Don't know if it can help, but i wanted to dig more deeply into.
Late adding: reloading some of the faulty textures make them almost instadissolve in water instead of collapse, like the engine gose nut after a while.
Maybe it's just a bug, but after a lot of ships are loaded the water turn into acid.
It broke when i change tool in maximized window, to fix it i have to reduce and max it again.
I find it very weird that many of the ships don't work for you
They work fine here, we never really had much issues about them either
at first I assumed the issue is the graphics card like 99% of the time but i used to have the game working just fine with an older card (Nvidia Geforce gtx 650ti)
I'm going to talk to Fred about it (the programmer) hopefully he will know what is the issue
I known lately how to use structure and textures, and now it work, my fault.
Usually i drag ships directly into the main sea window, it's how's intended, right?
Only in case of multilayerd ships i have to load the alt tex into the toolbox?
Maybe the physic engine freak out after a while when many images are loaded.
I think I did get a similar issue but that was a long time ago before the game was properly optimized
Can you check if your computer detects multiple GPU?
If that's the case, you should be able to run the game by selecting a different graphics card by right clicking on the game executable and select "Run with graphics processor"
**see image Image below for visual aid**
https://i.imgur.com/Y1SgMMw.png
also, make sure to check if your graphics card's driver are up to date.
Obviously i don't have a multiple gpu selection menu.
I try to run it as administrator, if it can make any difference.
Actually i'm running the game from the desktop link created by Steam, now i try to see what's appening launching directly from the game exe.
Starting from the game exe seems to work, but after a while the water dissolve some ships, mainly the flooding ones, like the Sailship, usually it load water and create an hole in the center, after the water freak out it insta dissolve it.
Some of the non working shipd still load water but doesn't crack or degrade at first.
Looks like something goes wrong after some time and after you load many ships one after the other.
Well it's not a real issue, as usually you don't load and sink more than 2 or 3 ships per game, but it might be something with the phisycs engine.
All the test made with vanilla settings and timelaps deactivated, freezed at daylight.
Tried loading it several times, swapping with other ships, loaded a whole bunch of them and still working.
It broke once, but i'm unable to recreate the condition, i tought was after loading a multilayer ship, but i loaded some and still the sailship rock steady unbroken.
Maybe it's just a glitch when a resources spike occure.
-
Finally i got it broken.
Still i don't know what's triggering it, but i loaded some multilayer ships from the Abdulrhman pack until they degrade near the engine, then when i load the sail first it create an hole in the hull, at the small grey square, then slowly every flooding ship slowly degrade as i reload them 'till the point they melt almost instantly in the water.
Something really weird happened.
I'm messing with the sail ship, it load fine, it rock and float.
I repetly reset it chaning location, drag aside and put in the water, it's all fine 'till it reach a spot where the holes occure.
If i replace in a position or two before it work, but 'till the point where almost everywhere the ship sink.
There's some magic spot where weird things happens.
But the sea being procedural it's near impossible to spot.
I was moving to the righ, if it can help.
All the physics are being computed using the graphics card
I assume your card has something particular that cause some issues in the game.
I notified Fred about it and he's going to see what he can do once he has some time
Unfortunately, this game is being made as a hobby, development time is quite limited
Not a big deal, as i really have to work fo
rt it.
