Can't sprint and strafe at the same time?

Not sure if this is a bug or simply an unfinished mechanic, but I've always found it occasionally downright frustrating that I can't sprint and move left and right at the same time. Is this mechanic on purpose or is sprinting simply unfinished right now? Having to press shift again every single time I want to strafe left or right gets a little tiring after a while.

I'm pretty sure the rifleman's special perk is strafing run.

I think you may have misunderstood it a little since it appears you didn't read anything but the title (which is partly down to my own poor wording).

None of the units can sprint and go left/right at the same time. Every time you press A or D to make them go left or right while sprinting, they stop sprinting.

This issue is quite annoying. Hopefully the dev would look into it.
