Explaining super shots

Can someone explain how i can do a super shot in a match? i know you need to fill the gages but how do you get to having the option to fill the gage twice? and how to know in a match if a character has a special alternate shot. Just confused with this, Thanks.

Keep holding the bar. The bar fills up faster if you raggle or activate the VZone. The player's technique most influences how fast the bar rises.

Special shots mark it with a star in the character description.

Pretty sure you need to unlock those upgraded super shots. (filling the gauge twice)

you unlock them during the new player story mode.

First playthrough I unlocked hyuga, tsubasa, karl heinz schneider and some side character. for usa/brazil you would probably need to unlock those story paths first and get to play them in the finals
