The new map types is a new thing, so the can be some error. I'm increasing the max trade distance a bit to compensate in the next patch. Hopefully you'll get something to trade in your current save.
That update that makes everything compatible is not planned. I recommend checking out the previous version to continue on old saves or disable updates, until one is ready to start a new city with the new features and content.
I had a feeling it was a bug, maybe it was an issue when I decided to choose a huge map with such large distances. To be fair, the map did show that it would be close enough to the representation of France that I could trade but when it generated, for some reason the majority of the British Isles vanished underwater. There's about 3 seas between me and France now. As of yet, nobody is trading, so I would assume it's broken.
I would very much appreciate an update that would alow saves to be transferred but as a coder myself, I can imagine it would be a lot of work. I just don't want to have to keep starting a new city every time an update happens.
Regardless, thanks for making a Dwarf Fortress like game that has a GUI! This game is amazing!
