Report a translation problem
There were some recent changes that should have lowered the difficulty quite a bit. Did you play with those, or is this based on previous experiences?
At what population did it become too annoying?
That bit about the requests is definitely annoying. The thing is with how the rivalry system works at the moment, no larger factions will demand stuff from you. That only leaves the smaller ones. You should be able to scare them off if you have sufficient military, but perhaps the ratio is off a bit.
Pulling from a room can kinda be done already. You would have to place a small warehouse next to it and reduce the radius. Then you can pull from that warehouse. This is usually good practice anyway, since it extend the storage by a lot.
However, I can see the utility in directly pulling from rooms without doing this.
