Below that on the left you can change the shape from rectangle to brush and ellipse (with hollow options).
To the right of that is a toggle which will build walls ans ceilings automatically for you. Just click a point and drag.
To the right of that is a toggle to build walls only (no ceiling). You want to draw your walls with this and not drag.
To the right of that is a ceiling toggle. Drag that over any walls to create a ceiling.
To the right of that is a convert toggle. Drag that over any structures to change the materials type it is made from.
Its good to understand the toggles as it can let you free form making homes in different shapes. Just in case you don't know when clicking on homes there is a toggle in the building segment that allows you to place homes without walls. You can use this to make a cluster of homes and then build walls around them and place ceilings. Just be sure to leave the doorways open and build a ceiling between the walls.
