The game feels so frustrating for a newcomer
I like rimworld and wanted to try this game but there's so many tool tips missing that its too much of a trial and error. I just wanted to expand my warehouse and for some reason the expansion does not remove the original outer wall and instead builds everything around it. So now my new 10x10 expanded area is unaccessable from any direction since I didn't add any doors there. I just can't find a way to edit a construction order after I've planned and clicked build.
Now I accidentally removed the whole warehouse by one click and can't undo it (why on earth isn't there a confirmation question if you're about to do something dumb like this??). Good times.

I felt the exact same starting off. Nothing really made sense and there are few games that made me feel that lost. It's difficult and unforgiving and I stopped at least twice before committing one last time and I'm glad I did as it's such a great game and the developer is amazing. Reading through discussions I've seen them respond to issues within minutes. There are constant updates(though these could use patchnotes), the last one being conquest of the map which the people had been asking for and voila it's here. The game plays smoothly(until around 9k population, it's still smooth but it slows down a tad and this may be my computer or it may be a limitation of java). It lacks a good tutorial but there are a couple guides that I read and once I understood the building mechanics, it was smooth sailing. Then comes the population growth hurdles, and that too took a while. I promise it's worth the steep curve as a newcomer.

The warehouse- did you use 'expand over existing building'?

Yeah, I think I used the expand over existing building to expand the warehouse.
I expanded to the left but the old outer wall was left intact and now it is dividing the expanded area and old area and the workers can't access the expanded area anymore after building the new walls.

Is there any way to modify the building order anymore? Clicking the unfinished building doesn't do anything nor can I find anything in the menus.

No offense, but iam quite sure there is a window popping up if ur deleting a room and asking you if ur realy sure. Dont blame the game.

Well I just tested it and there was no pop up asking for confirmation. Tested it with remove- tool and delete room- tool.

I think there is one if you click the remove button on the room UI. The problem is that buildings and rooms are separate, which is very powerful, but also more confusing. buildings, such as walls and ceiling are managed with the hammer menu. The room building UI allows you to build walls and ceiling as a QoL, but they are completely separate from the room in reality.

I actually noticed that too. If you delete a room from the UI (the list with all similar buildings) it asks for confirmation.
But is there a way to edit a build order while a building/room is being built? It would be really helpful in situations where you make a mistake that you didn't notice (like in this situation I started editing my only workshop and the wall was left intact separating the expansion and original building.), thus preventing the workers from accessing the inside of the expansion and they couldn't finish building it.

EDIT: I bought the full game and realized that the demo version isn't updated with the full version right? I'm glad I did buy the full version since the demo is really lacking compared to the full version here.

Yes, that explains a lot. As you can see, I'd like to think that it's becoming less and less frustrating with time. To alter a room under construction you can just click it.

"To alter a room under construction you can just click it." Yeah this was not the case in the demo and I was almost turned away because how clunky it felt compared to the full version.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to keep the demo since it gives the impression that it represents the current state of the game. Maybe update it and put it on timed trial, remove it or put a disclaimer that it is an earlier build.

I am trying the demo now and came here looking to find out how to add a door after the room was already built. Is that possible? I wanted to add 2 doors during planning phase but ended up with just one, so is there a way to add another door later on? Or even can you delete parts of a wall? I hope its not all or nothing.

It's been awhile but I'm pretty sure even the demo has these features -

1. Use the 'Remove' tool on the wall tile
2. Use the 'Structures' tool to build a ceiling on said tile
