Doorways and noise
Does placing doors in doorways actually do anything? Buildings say 100% isolation regardless of whether or not I have doors in the entryways. How far away should I place sleeping quarters and relaxation areas from noisemakers?

Holding right click will show you the noise on that tile. Make sure the area around high noise buildings, like mines for instance, are dissipated before you build a dormitory. Sleeping quarters is really the only areas that mind noise.

"Isolation" means how fast the interior will degrade, has nothing to do with noise level

bring up the noise overlay to see the quiet areas.

I was just getting on here to check about noise..
When checking your citizen needs, noise does play a part. So you're saying that if i'd put all my sleeping quarters on the other side of the map.. That stat would likely go up to 100%?

Naturally, that isn't feasible, but it does give me some perspective into how i can noise cancel the city. I was considering adding double walls etc to industry buildings.
However if it's as you say, instead of doing that (I'm not even sure if that helps), i can put an eatery or something between quarters&industry.

I'm not positive if you can get 100% for noise or not. I'm just really not sure how it's calculated. My assumption is you can't because your people will spend time working in those noisy areas. But as long as you minimize the time they spend in it as well as traveling through it as much as possible it should improve how much you get from it. Or I could just be mistaken on how it's calculated.

I'm now up to ~5k population&30% noise with almost no raw resource gathering. in other words, bakeries, smelteries, libraries etc. So everything is very centered.
I've done some planning though. My city consists of districts with each district having a 3 wide wall between them. I've also made sure that there are service districts close enough to every working district so that people wouldn't have to run through another working district to reach a service with just a few exceptions (The big arena&religion are the only ones i can think of).

Then i've also made sure that workers shouldn't have to leave their working district to get materials. Only the warehouse workers would have to do that.

So.. There's not much else i can do to lower noise. Granted, 30% is pretty great. I suppose i might be able to get it to 20. Maybe 15, if i start using haulers, transports and plop down a few more religious buildings&arenas. Maybe even insulate the noise a little bit for those few times that a worker would need to pass another working district. Would it be worth it? Doubtful.
Will i do it? A lot needs to be moved.. but i'm a perfectionist and like experimenting. So i'd say pretty likely xD
