Now see I larp a little bit. I let more highly skilled individuals have apartments. But duly noted, houses are probably better than longhouses in multicultural societies just because of species being a little bit racist.
just wrong, i think this used to be a thing with "privacy" but no longer
There was a feature called privacy which made the pop like smaller houses more than the big ones, but that one is gone again.
So if you manage to make it fit into your city and are up for efficiency, use long houses and forget about the other 2.
Cost is 0 for house, you only paying for roof and wall and that depends on area.
If you make double house it's exacly the same footprint and the same capacity as longhouse, you just have 2 "doors" on longer side then 1 "door" on shorter side. And is less costly by 1 as you exchange one wall for roof as a 2nd door.
As for footprint with walls or making cheaper it's simply making it as square as possible (as we can't actually make circles) so something like 2 longhouses back to back with each other and 4 apartments on each side of them for 44 pop and 14x13 area with walls. And if i count correctly cost is 172 material of choice, giving 4,14 tiles per person (with walls) and 3,91 wood per person. At the same time amount of material or tiles saved is miniscule
