Is there a detailed event log anywhere?
Noticed a first body in my graveyard but have absolutely no clue who/when or why has someone died.

Additionally you can set some pops as 'favourite' but so far that does not seem to be doing anything at all.

Is there some message log buried somewhere I am missing, as the only one I can find is for major events like droughts?

Pretty much solved that one of those hunter's got injuries and bled out due to lack of medical facilities which is pretty much impossible to have at that pop. It's the cost of doing business early on. The game isn't anywhere near 1.0. The learning curve is unnaturally steep especially because some dynamics change with each major update but also the focus isn't on easing players in right now. Yeah, where you see the "Green Hammers" is where I thought you might see an unnatural death indicator in red. There isn't an in depth log I am aware of ATM. Best I can do is suggest investing in a regular graveyard. It has a list of those currently buried and it will give you more information than the mass grave.

There are a few things you can do. Firstly, I think you can select the graveyard. It will have a list of the interned and how they died while their body is still in the graveyard. Secondly, there is usually an indicator just right on the top of the UI where you'll find the notices that you've completed a building. Here it will also show the number of starving or suffering from exposure so check your climate. It will also indicate deaths from accidents such as workplace mishaps or mauling. Hunting is dangerous, it might be that. Lastly, assuming all else has failed you might load autosaves before the grave was filled. See if it happens again you can locate the reason.

As for favorites, it only really offers a separate menu just for them. When you have thousands of residents, it is useful to have a list just of the ones you flagged. There isn't any change to how they act or are treated, just like you like them for some reason. I always like to favorite the first settlers so I can keep track of how they are doing.

It's a Mass Grave so all it shows me is a list of mass graves, there is no option for inspect or anything I can see to give any details.

No indicator there except "Green Hammers" for completed rooms.

I did send some folks hunting animals for leather, so this might be the likely cause, but its really odd there is virtually zero notifications at <75 pops.
