Building custom structures [Noob]

I seen a few people talking about it but I am not sure how to make custom shaped houses, all I can make are square and rectangle shapes.

you can create very custom shapes. When you place new building you can use "shape" icons to increase and decrease size. If you choose to decrease size and click inside your building, right on the corner (but not on the wall, you have to click inside the wall) your building will change shape - instead of classical corners it will be rounded. Kind of. Dont expect really rounded buildings, since everything here is square based.

Okay, sorry if I am not explaining this correctly. I am looking at the map, I am playing the Bugs, I am in a mountain. I want to make homes for them. So I go Service>Homes>construction. I can make the rectangle or square bigger by pressing Q or E but other than that, I can not change the shape of them

When structure is already built you can edit it even if building itself does not have edit mode. All buildings have edit mode... except houses. So if you need certain shape you have to use "structures" tool.

Construct - structures - wall / delete jobs

So you either add walls or delete (delete jobs) already existing wall.
