Wave of dead during winter?
So I have a tooonnn of hearths all over the place, but whenever I get to large populations like 1.3k there's always a wave of like 300 citizens that die every winter because they freeze to death. But my hearths are near full availability. I'm wondering if maybe it's because i play on maximum speed, and they can't process getting to hearths fast enough? Or any other thoughts or suggestions to avoid this? It's crippling my economy and nearly kills my game.

Hm weird. I haven't experienced something like that and I play on max speed most of the time. Is it cold climate or something? Do you hand out clothing to your citizens? I think clothing mitigates the freezing problematic or it used to. Also, hearths require wood to operate but that shouldn't be an issue.

Are they really dying? (as such are they being buired) i had this kinda issue, but it turns out its how the dev wanted it reported, cold showed in accidental deaths every year, but they was not dying they was just going insane.

I found giving them a second set of cloths helpful, my cretorians still get cold of course but not as often.

Yes, all of my graveyards and my backup mass grave filled up with upwards of 300 dead bodies, cause of all of them was death. But not all of my citizens are given clothes, so maybe that's it? But I still assumed that access to hearths would prevent death due to cold.

I'm handing out clothes, but not even all of my citizens are getting one pair of clothes, never mind two. Maybe that's why?

Most likely each set of cloths equipped gives a 50% boost to cold protection and 25% to heat.

For example cretonians only have a .13 (13%) resistance when "naked", needless to say if you have these fellows, no cloths doesnt end to well in.

In the tome of knowledge is a breakdown of stats for each race, cold/heat resistance is in the physics line.

I cant be sure but i think getting to a hearth is very similar to the bleed out mechanic, its basically on a timer depending on there resistance.

In my experience, clothing is paramount in surviving harsh winters. You gotta make sure that each citizen has at least 1 set of clothes (iirc, only the 1st set counts against the weather, and every subsequent one just gives happiness).

They stack, you can see this in the access panel, if you hover over the cloths icon itself it shows your average resistance boost, give them a extra set and it will increase,

Remember however 2 sets while is 100% its not 100% in reality its based on % gain, so a creatorian as mentioned is 17% so a 50% gain from 1 set is 25.5% resistance 2 sets is 38.25% and so on.

Thought id add a example, here ive changed it to 3 sets (3*.5) (about 4 days ago) you can see they have 1.4 (140%) cold resistance, which tells me i may have some logistics issues as a % of my pop didnt pick up a extra set as 4 days should have been enough time for everyone to get a 3rd set.
