No bridges over water?

Am I missing something or are there no bridges for building over water in this game? Seems like something you would expect to see.

Just remove water to build a land bridge. You can pave it to make it look a bridge if you're bothered. Until we have boats or some other reason to not block the river it doesn't really matter.

why would it not matter if there are resources and animals on the other side?

Just build any type of road over any type of (shallow/deep) water and it will work like a bridge.

I believe they meant that it doesn't matter if the bridge is just filling the water into land, or building a bridge, because either way there's no boats that might want to go beneath it.

Also when you complete placing "land" over deep water, the graphic shows it as more of a bridge.
