Modifying existing building
Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there a way to modify an existing building without losing all the progress inside the building?

I assume you mean before it's finished building? Not really. If you want to make minor adjustments then it's best to wait for it to finish and then edit again to avoid them having to regather all the resources all over again. If your changes will fundamentally alter the layout for the whole thing then you just gotta do what you gotta do.

I mean when the building has finished construction, if I try modifying it at all, all the storage inside and jobs are lost. Kinda wish there was a way to just add stuff like walls individually or something

Well while a building is being worked on, all jobs will cease to function. This is definitely true. You shouldn't be losing objects placed within that building though, unless the change you're trying to make would render the placed item illegal, in which case it will be removed. I do wish there was a way to revert a change back, such as when you place a wall only to find an object deleted that you didn't want deleted... It would be nice to be able to revert the change and have the item appear back where it was again without having to be reconstructed but at the moment that's how it's working. As long as the edits you make don't invalidate anything that's already placed you can add extra stuff in without losing anything but the time it takes to build the new stuff.

Gamatron wrote a few times that it isn't possible to do that right now.
It's hopefully on the list of future fixes.
