Oh, thank you, interesting...
Do you get to the launcher at all, or does nothing happen when you try to run it?
Does factorio work though?
I don't dare approach the Mindustry guy, but can't find any info on a potential fix in this matter. I'm going to fire up my old mac and see if it wants to update to Menterery and if I can reproduce it.
That sounds like it's the steam overlay though? A know issue, and actually caused by steam. You must disable steam overlay for the game.
I installed Monterey on my 2019 imac today, and while I could still start the game, it behaves completely different, and doesn't fit in the game window. This has been a problem that I thought was resolved, sigh. So I'll fix that at least.
The launcher does start but when I get to the mod screen (no mods) and hit play a crash report shows up almost instantly but a java program does pop up in the active program part of the dock and after about 10 seconds that self-closes. I looked through the crash report and I saw an error here. I can put up the whole report if you like (pretty long...)

On a side note, whatever changes Apple did recently has messed up stability of steam games in general for me at least. I get screen freezes sometimes with sound still working and then eventually crashes me out completely to the user log-on screen. Never had that problem before and makes me want to downgrade the OS. Doesn`t happen too much so going to wait and see if they fix over the next few months.
I managed to update my mac to the latest version, and I can reproduce this. I had to reinstall the steam client as well, because that wasn't working initially. Game seems to work though, if one bypasses the launcher, but it's a bit hacky. I'll most probably manage to resolve this, if it's possible. thanks a lot for the detailed description.
So what we mac users can do for now for as easy workaround is launch the game directly till a fix comes in. Go to manage, browse local files and start the game from there and not through the steam program. I just tried it and started up for me too, though I`ll have play it later to see if it plays fine. It`s not the overlay(?) but trying to start it through steam/launcher I guess(?). I`ll edit this later after getting a chance to play and check better.
Edit: game seems to run fine but fullscreen resolution is funky and got unreachable buttons or the dock is visible and overlapping the bottom of the screen and covering buttons. I played around with windowed and reduced the game window down enough to be playable. Not ideal but can still play.
