Question regarding mushrooms
Hello,

I've noticed both races which you can start with will eat mushrooms. I cannot, however, seem to find a mushroom farm under the Agriculture build menu, and I don't seem to able to find it as an edible resource or anything. What am I missing?

Many thanks in advance

Depending on what climate you settle in, certain rooms might be disabled. Mushrooms for instance, can only be grown in northern climates. the only way to get them is by trading.

they should tell you that before you waste points unlocking them

What are requirements for Mushrooms farm? It says Irrigation 0% despite I've build it near the water. And does it require fertility?

If the water isn't directly touching the mushroom field it doesn't count - and touching the building isn't touching the field. But irrigation is a bonus, not a base requirement, so the mushrooms should still grow.

They do still seem affected by fertility though, from what I've seen.

Also of note, in other threads it's been indicated that mushrooms don't actually need to be indoors, despite coming with a building like rooms, and having the isolation indicator? Though I would want to know the actual effects of building them outdoors vs indoors, before dealing with that.

My mushroom farm yielded 0 harvest for 2 years. So I guess irrigation is needed. Bu didn't get it, how to do that indoors.

Weird. But would stop experimenting with mushrooms for now. Anyway I have nothing to plant, to create new farm.

Building mushroom farms is super easy. They don't require maintenance from janitors so you can just build a big building. Putting mushrooms under a big building in a cold biome gets you 60% fertility which is still pretty useful. Digging them underground is even better. If you have mountains in a cold biome you can get 100% fertility for mushroom farms.

That said, bread is the most efficient food by production type, though it requires wood or coal to make. Wheat farms are by far the more productive farm of all farm types, roughly twice as productive as everything else. This is offset by needing to do a second step to turn wheat into bread. One bakery worker can produce something like 50 bread/day (depending on race/tools/education) so it doesn't take a lot of bakery workers to produce staggering quantities of bread.

So mushrooms doesn't care the "Land fertility" and calculate it by other means? And I don't have to put it near water?

As I wasn't able to yield any harvest for year. It said production is 0.57 per worker.

Ok. Update. Turns out that yo need to have building without part of a wall!
For small farm designed for single farmer it's enaught to leave 3 cells of wall missing. (can use that hole as a door instead of doors as well, if it is shallow water).
So basically you connect one side of farm to river or artificial water. But be sure to not build doors near water. Water should touch farming plot directly. So no roof there. Frming plot should touch water directly.

So after having 3 wall cells missing and one door on oposite side of building (in direction of a road) i have 93% enclosure, which is quite decent. Usable.

Haven't got first harvest yet. Would check this farm next time.
P.S. looks like incomplete feature.
