Drill Down

Drill Down

This game is not bad, but not good either.
I am not an English speaker, so, you been warned.

It`s looks like Factorio with minimal visuals, but without annoying aspects like surviving, base defense and exploring. Only pure logistics and construction.
At first you need to mine stone, then smelt metals and eventually refine crude oil. To do this you have to build various strictures from simple mines and furnaces to high tech assemblers and turbines.

Sounds fun?, yes it is.
But there is a catch … this game is very clunky and unpolished. Its “just works”, like complete prototype.
  • Clunky controls.
  • Weird production rates.
  • Lack of tutorials for some buildings (like filter, refinery or gas turbine), how liquids or electricity works.
  • No “Creative mode”.
  • No QoL (no blueprints, no shortcuts, NO STONE REMOVAL).

I can't recommend this game for anybody who isn't already dedicated fan of “production line” games.
I like this game because it feels somewhat hardcore, but I can't speak for anybody else.

I totally agree with you here. As a fan of production/factory games, Drill Down has just enough content to keep me interested. It feels very clunky, but it's good enough to just work in a way. I like your idea of it feeling like a hardcore version of a factory game. I think if it got some love, this game could really be solid.

My two cents worth:

There should be drill down (no pun intended) context data for items needed to build a supply chain element. For example, storage requires stone bricks. Wonderful, how do I make those? Arrow back and start searching how to make stone bricks. Oh, I've found Stone Mason. Now I can...uh oh! It needs iron ingots! How do I make those? Arrow back out and start searching on how to make iron ingots.

Get the picture? Clicking on a material to build a supply chain object should automatically drill down into how to make that item. You shouldn't have to go up and down a menu structure manually. That's so 1980s. I should know. I designed text menus during the 1980s that used to do that before drill down doubleclick became possible.
