Movement is nightmarishly slow and clunky. Why does it take your character 5 seconds to get up when knocked down. Combat is either super easy and you spear a guy 10x in a row cause they just sit there or glitch out on a rock... Or you get stun locked and get knocked over by an enemy continuously even though the animations aren't even close to lining up. Movement in games like Breath of the Wild is 10x more fluid and makes you actually feel like you're in control. This game does not, all they had to do was copy the movement system from a game like that but instead we get this garbage. Climbing animation is God awful slow.
The base gameplay loop of crafting I enjoy, but sailing and combat are so half-assed it's not even funny. Don't starve offers a much more compelling loop for reference, and that's clearly an inspiration here. I don't care if the sailing is "realistic", it's ♥♥♥♥ for gameplay and tediously awful. Either give me a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wind song to change the direction of the wind like wind waker, or let me ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ use my stupid magic paddle after I've added a sail. Speed up the animations to double or triple to fix some of the sluggishness.
At least the graphics and atmosphere and music are nice, but most everything else feels like an early access title that no one ever actually playtested.
So, like.. in real life? im guessing you havent been sailing in real life.
The game has issues and it didn't help that they designed it to rival Zelda games, but one must remember that the franchise is decades old, so of course it's going to be a disappointment if you expect a proper comparison.
How is it review bombing? Have you read the reviews? I've found most of them pretty valid.
Yeah, "I can't figure out how to play" and "omg this isn't zelda" are definitely valid reviews
Oh no those are nonsense, of course, that's the unfortunate reality of steam reviews sadly, but I would like to think my negative review, as well as some of the other reviews that appear on the store page, are fairly valid?
After reading countless negative reviews and the fact that the preorder bonus is still messed up, I'm not sure I backed the correct pony here.
Okay let me ask you this, does the game deserve mostly negative rating now?
Have you played it?
Honestly? Yes, the game isn't very good in my opinion, its at best, like a 5/10 for me, so I would say mostly negative is correct. Again, that's my opinion though.
