Not on his patreon, did you even look at the patreon page to see what you get? He does have different levels of patreon and each on gives more benefits but none of them permanently give you updates if you stop supporting.
While it is heavily appreciated that one continues to help support the creator financially, you are able to pay once and gain the codes for the Steam Builds.
At least until he changes them, but he does not feel the need to change them on a frequent basis.
This also goes with the Creator Code.
However, unsubbing from his two sources will prevent you from gaining access to any new codes and new non-Steam versions of the game outside of the public builds.
You'll pay on a monthly basis but you'll still get builds within the month that you are subscribed to. If the creator puts out two new backer builds within the same month, you'll be able to access those.
Also the lowest but most frequently updated tier is the $2 tier.
Unfortune for me, to keep paying $5, $10, or $25, etc, just for a chance that within that month I'll get some significant update in the product, is not suitable. With my currency getting weaker and weaker every day, plus taxes.
I understand patience and let the creation process flow without over pressure. But I prefer to pay one value, and get everything is offered now till its completion. And pehaps pay for some extras for support reasons (nothing significant, I hope).

You could pay annually. Doing that with the $2 tier will get you a whole year with monthly updates for like $20.
