Bakeneko: Keep Getting "Halloween" Orange Instead of "Underworld" Blue

I'm trying to collect all presets of the Bakeneko (Demon+Neko) hybrid. Going to the "change my spirit form" screen lets me see that Bakeneko has an "underworld" preset -- the one with blue skin and pink arcane symbols.

But when I breed an underworld demon (succubus or cambion, doesn't matter) and an underworld neko, it keeps on giving me a Bakeneko with the Halloween colours: bright orange skin and gold markings.

Anyone else having this issue? Has anyone else been able to breed a blue-skinned Bakeneko?

You could always assume the spirit form of the Bakeneko you want and then breed with a Bakeneko in your Mutt Hut.

No guarantee that would work. Colors work on a voting system. Parents color tags are added, then compared to the offspring species' color presets. Whichever preset gets the most votes gets applied.

Sadly, this means that any preset with more tags than others tends to be more dominant.

Try using the Spirit form with colors you want, and breeding with a neko of the color you want. MAYBE that will work. It's a crap shoot, but you can get a Bakaneko that way too.

I eventually got one, by making my spirit form into an Underworld Bakeneko, then breeding with an Underworld Neko... and after that, I was able to get them the normal way, with Underworld Neko and Succubus combos. Weird.

The game telling you, FINE, you want Underworld Bakenekos, I'll GIVE you Underworld Bakenekos, I hope you choke on them! grumble grumble
