Always losing because of energy
So what are my options regarding energy in fights? Besides spending all of my time training up agility and stamina with the specific options that ignore strength while ignoring police work and the dojo? Because more often that not, when I lose a fight, it's because I run out of stamina while my opponent still has 3/4ths of theirs, and unlike the first game, your character doesn't seem capable of bouncing back from a even single knockdown, even if you spend an entire round with no attacks equipped. I tried that. Didn't even have half stamina after.

It's been like this since the beginning of the game and even the green fighting style that seemingly focuses on stamina does jack all to help me last. So... what's the options? Stamina is at 15, the other two at 14, for the record.

in a fight? drop some attacks/skills to decrease energy consumption and increase energy regeneration.

as for stats. what path are you going down?
Strength increases energy consumption on all attacks. it should not be close to your stamina, if you are not going down the red path .
Agility increases the amount of actions you can perform and combined with you high strength. so you if you are not going down the blue path, maybe don't increase your actions too much.

I don't understand how the game is working. Or wants me to do it.

I can do jobs to get money but at the same time it increases 1 of my stats. I accidentally did all because they all give money at different time of day and quests for more stuff but now I am an allrounder and not good at anything. Was I supposed to only do 2 of them or just 1?

1. You need to unlock in path of the angry Tortoise skill Double inhale(litteraly first skill in tree lul). It recover double ammount of stamina when you skip your move. I usually used 2 punches and 2 Double inhales and dont forget to remove your block or doges when your stamina low, also remeber when you recover your stamina your oponent do it too, so use at least 1 atack to punish him.
2. Also you can just train more agility to have more moves and energy
3. You can work for Bobo and unlock Slime melange, it recovers 35 eneregy at the start of round(i think i completed it at 15 stat
4. Use perks, seriously

Wait that's what Melange does?? I can't find anything in-game that tells you what the perk does without you having already consumed the item.
As for double inhale, I got that not too long after making the post, but it was a bit of a ride getting the stat level and the GPP to afford it.
I feel like it's a terrible idea to not dodge or block because by the time you need to restore stamina like that, you'll probably get wrecked without any defense.

Man, I feel that. I made a new playthrough yesterday to try a different approach to chapter 1 and zeroing in on slime punching and neurotraining stamina primarily made a world of difference. Depending on where you are, I'd recommend either saving up money with slime punching, run down to the gym and get some training focused on stamina, and then going home to eat and sleep. In C2, you get more training options that offer only stamina and agility, so you can use that to purposefully lag your strength.
The first game def does a better job conveying that you need to pick an area of focus, though. I don't recall this game doing anything to really explain that high strength = high consumption outside of when you scroll over the strength bar in the menu, but that's not very obvious.

Yea, the game seems to be a balancing joke at the moment. I'm currently fighting opponents with less than half of my strength (20 pts vs 9) and endurance and agility better or equal, but losing since they focus on low energy school of fighting. And when I drop the number of attacks and defense moves it sill doesn't help because they get like 5-6 attacks per turn, which is a nonsense imo.

Another problem is a knock down, not only you are out of stamina and cannot attack, but the enemy seems to get another turn to pummel you. If that's the mechanic then why not just end the fight right there, you have almost no chance of recovering and just end up getting frustrated.

You can just recover stamina, when enemy does it.
When enemy low at stamina he usually just removes his moves and starts to recover energy with 1 atack and 1 or 0 blocks/doges you can recover twice more with double inhale (just dont remove all your attacks keep at least 1 to exhaust him or do decent damage)
There is the tip when you see that enemys moves needs a lot of energy to use, you can remove your atacks and just wait utill he runs out of energy, there is no need to try overdamage your opponent.
Dont waste your energy when you see, that enemy probably just doge or block your attack with 3 or more blocks/doges in his build.
This game not only about management your time, its also about management your moves between rounds.

Each move has description:
  • how much damage it does and how is this damage calculated
  • how much energy consume and how is this consumption calculated
  • how much initiative it needs
