I don't know about the Police route, but for the Sensei route it seemed like it was building up to something where the students were starting to take you for granted. I was hoping for some kind of epic conclusion where you have to fight all your students in a gauntlet. Maybe next time.
Is it days passed or doing certain things or a combo of the two?
I've gone through the whole 2nd division while only ever talking to Uncle Barry at the very beginning and the very end, missing all the related events inbetween.
Only thing i did differently was i would often skip to the highest level fight i could do at that point in time.
I think defeating certain specific fighters may in some cases trigger things. So you should aim to fight each fighter in the division at least once.
Totally agree regarding chapter 3.5. Feels like there's all this rushed running around "story" stuff with not much actually happening (as you said, one fight).
It definitely would have been much better if this had been spaced out a bit better, so you had something interesting to do in-between all the job shifts and normal fights (like most of the other chapters up to that point).
