I though the fighting minigame would be fun but I kept the same build for silver and second league and stomped every one without ever having to change (just update with better kicks).
The story is fun, full of old references and absurd humor. I quite liked it. The MC was more likable when he was a 20 yo recluse. After the middle of act 1 he juste becomes a goody two shoes.
I'm not dissing the game. Just saying that it's a niche genre. I'm used to iddler or factory game. Most people don't like that genre and I'm also fine with it.
League fight. Train/eat/rest. Gym training. Train/eat/rest. Police duty. Train/eat/rest. Repeat. With little to no deviation except when reaching a Gym/Police threshold sending you out on a random fight.
When playing this as your "main" game and you get to this point, it quickly becomes a drag.
Seems like Act 3 won't be much better.
That said, I still love this game. Amazing from top till toes. The music, the graphics, the gameplay, it's what I love. But PC1 did a better job of shaking things up. In fact, in PC1 it was mostly almost impossible to get into a good routine, while PC2 is heavily designed and balanced around the player getting into a routine. From your moms sleep schedule to the exact timings of jobs, gym, and etc. For example, I'd get home at 7AM after making noodles, giving me time to prepare 1-2 cooking kits before mom falls asleep. Of course there are the sleeping pills (Which I feel like were added much later), but this is just an example of how this was thought through by the dev.
I agree, graphics, music, sound effects, etc. are all great. but I think it's too tedious for me and I'll stop playing soon (unless I play once every few days maybe)
If you don't like this, then you're just not the target audience for these kind of games. Not saying this to be dismissive. Your remarks on the simple and boring gameplay loop is valid. But it's just exactly how these games work. For some players, additive > boring and it all works out.
In clicker games the UI is very smooth. You focus on number rising. Most use key shortcuts and instant/no animation.
In PC2 late game, you have enough gold to buy all the food/energy you want but to do so takes so many click. Act 3, I'm on the gym ropping waiting for the next match. My food bar gets empty I must :
Click on the map
Click on Bobo farm Click on Bobo, Click on Buy, Click on Food thrice and Energy Drink twice.
Close window, click on portrait, click on personnal tab, click 5 times on food/energy
Click on Bobo farm Click on Bobo, Click on Buy, Click on Food twice and Energy Drink thrice.
Click on map Click on Mickey gym, Get back to work with a bit of food in inventory that wont even last to the next day.
I spend more time clicking on various menu, sub menu and dialog menu than training/fighting.
Are you out of your mind? In Punch Club it felt like im making progress everyday in the game and i liked to play it with different Styles etc. In Punch Club 2 i feel like nothing happens, i have no time for training because of work and without work i have no money for training, the only reason stats are not decaying is because it would be unplayable.
In essence, its fine, but seems worse, because there is not enough fighting in between to make it as enjoyable, at least for me.
They didn't say that they couldn't make money. It's stupidly easy to make money in this game after the first chapter. The game is boring. What are you doing with the extra time? Watching your guy work out on the parallel bars or jump rope or whatever. It's tedious because there is too much extra time and not enough actually going on. Once you're past the beginning stages there's nothing worth managing in this management game. I got to the end because I'm stubborn, but now I'm stuck at (what I assume is) the final sequence because the friggin thing is crashing every time I try to complete it.
