Seems kinda useless except for specific situations such as a situation where you have to fight multiple difficult battles in short succession, running out of tnus and desperately don't want to lose any of the fights.
Another use I can think for it is to stop yourself from gaining a specific stat but still being able to use training gear that increases that stat. As tonus will fill up first during training, and until it's full, you won't gain any actual exp for the stat itself.
So if you have full "tonus" for all your stats you won't be able to do anything with spoon boy. Come back after a fight or two (i.e. one of your tonus stats is a fair bit lower than the max), then he should be able to help....
