How to get a fight at the gym?

The tutorial set up the first gym fight easily, but maybe I wasn't paying attention.. Now when I enter the gym, I go to the console and can see everyone's stats and what I'm guessing is a fight card, but can't set up a fight. Halp please?

Top right of the screen shows a timer that indicates when you can sign up for the next fight, or when the next fight takes place. You likely still need to wait for signups to open.
