Team performance details? Real life vs game
Hello, wondering if anyone knows or has any detailed information regarding the difference between the bikes in game. I have little knowledge about real life motogp other than Ducati having better engine power, and Suzuki having good cornering for example, but is there any indication of this in game other than the extremely non descriptive team performance indicator?

An example of this the other day was I was riding the Suzuki VS a Ducati at Valencia with balanced performance off. On the straight I would get dumped by about 1 whole second, but I would make up that time over the course of the track and pass him before the final turn, and he would pass me on the straight again.

Any insights would be nice, as it's always fun to learn a bit about the scene a bit more :)

First of all there are factory teams and satelite teams. Factory teams always have the newest parts, work on developing the bike, have the budget and best engineers. Satelite team rent the equipement from the factory and often don't have the newest parts but a lot depends on the factory priorities. For example, Fabio Quartararo is such a talent and will race for factory next season that was given a new 2020 factory spec bike in the Petronas (Morbidelli will race on 2019 bike). In Honda, Cruchlow race the same bike as Marquez and Nakagami has a 1 year old bike. It all depends on the strategies. Sometimes a satelite team that has the proven bike and parts can be better than a factory team which is developing and testing new things (like Petronas was often faster than Monster Yamaha in 2019). Aprilia doesn't have a factory bike, will have a new full factory team in 2021 or 2022. Another example is Zarco who didn't want to race in Avintia Ducati until he had a meeting with Ducati chief who promised him to deliver a factory spec bike for him to Avintia (his team mate Rabat will race on the old bike). It all depends on teams/strategies/contracts/money/budget. Suzuki is a small company and has in plans a satelite team.
Another thing is each bike has its advanteges and disadvanteges. Ducati is pure power but Honda is not worse on that actually today has the same acceleration and almost the same top speed as Ducati. Honda is a very difficult bike to ride and probably that is the reason that only Marquez talent can adapt to it. No other rider have success on this bike. Suzuki has very good speed in corners but Yamaha is even better at it. They both use the inline engines (Honda and Ducati use V engines) and they are helpful in cornering but don't allow a great acceleration and top speed.
So the team perfomance indicator in the game is a little wrong, because satelite teams sometimes use a full factory spec bike and a one year old bike at the same time.

Thank you so much for the in depth explanation. I was aware of factory and satellite bikes, but not to this extent. I had no idea that satellite teams had access to full spec bikes, which made it confusing seeing particularly the Pramac and Petronas team bikes last season battling it out for the top 4 spots. And now the Zarco move makes more sense to me as well :) That also explains the team performance in the game a bit as well. Kinda wish Milestone took the codemasters F1 approach and made each section Engine, frame, aero, electronics it's own performance scale so you could compare every part of the bike individually and overall. Would make it easier to understand your bikes potentially at all times during career.
