Resolution refers to the image output going to your screen or TV.
Ideally it should match the device, e.g. 1080p to a 1080p TV.

Upscaling refers to the size the image is rendered at internally, relative to Resolution.
100% means rendering and output are the same size.
I think GP20 only offers very rough steps like 50% or 150%.

If you have performance headroom, you can use upscaling to get a sharper image, it`s like performance heavy anti-aliasing.

If you have performance issues, you can use downscaling to fix that, at the cost of image quality.

Since Resolutions which do not match your native TV/Screen resolution usually cause blur, the scaling option is often the better choice.

Thanks flipmode

will try that as I did it the other way around, from 1920x1080 to 2560x1440 and it appears a bit sharper than the upscale to 150% - but just my impression.

Oh, when the game started the very first time it was on 3840x2160* and the monitor is not UHD..?

What`s your monitor`s native resolution?
If it`s 1440p that would explain why it looks sharper than 1080p at 150% scaling.
If it`s a 1080p monitor 150% scaling should look better. Well, in theory at least. ;)

No clue why it started at 4k res ... but it`s not super rare for games to pick the wrong res for first launch.
