Is this game for me?
Im an older player been playing MMO's on and off for years. I play a lot of FPS games and loved Guild Wars 2, so heres my questions for this action MMO;

How is the combat system?

What is the cash shop like? (p2w or not etc.)

As an Aussie player how bad is the lag? (Main point to an action mmo)

What are the good and bad about this game in your mind?

Combat system is really good, sort of like arcade-ish fast paced action rpg, cash shop sort of p2w like you can get extra stats for your char (costume sets gives significant amount of stats, wings gives you movement speed etc.) Lag ain't that bad but there are times that I get disconnected from the game, I usually get around 180-200 ping (New Zealand) it's even worse in PvP you can actually feel the lag which can get really annoying unless you have something like optic fibre connection. IMO lag/dcs is the major problem, never had any lag/dc problems with other online games and it's really annoying.

Just to give you an example on how bad it can get, not sure if it's much better now but I reckon it's even worse after the recent updates but you should give it a try and and see how you like it

Well it depends on which Dragon Nest server u're playing, there's many types. The original DN server would be the Korean one which we call DN KR. But for your area, it would be DN EU which is the Europe server. I believe you won't experience that much lag. However the downside is the EU server is kind of far back. Why do I say that it's because now DN KR, CN, JP, SEA have already reached Level 70 cap while EU (most probably) is still ways back like Level 50 cap. So the choice is yours. You can download the different servers and try which works best for you if you don't want the EU version. (It's ok, there's English mods to help you convert the Korean and Chinese language and there are English guilds inside as well)

The Cash Shop is rather rich with a lot of items and luxuries a normal player won't have, so it's kinda interesting to check that out as well.

Combat system is different from what I'd played so far, it's 3D and you're able to manoeuvre so freely. It's totally different from Maple Story, trust me, you'll love the graphics AND the story line :))

Well the bad point about this game is that, there's several maintenances to keep the game in check which sometimes it's annoying. Secondly, it's the fact that once you maxed out your character, you will realize it's a bit hard to live without Cash Shop items, so which means one has to spend some real life money on DN ( unless you want to be hardcore and earn everything just through pure gaming, it's fine too :> ) Thirdly, if you plan to stick with SEA cuz, idk, the connection's good or something, warning: Too many PH ppl and there's a lot of arrogant and annoying people, just a heads up and yea. The good side is, there's also helpful people, they are friendly :)) And there are tons of guilds for you to choose one and join, you will have fun when you have company to talk to in the game (which is your guild members :> )

So I basically tried my best to answer your questions (I'm not sure if I answered to the point thooooouggghhhh) :> Thanks and hope you give DN a try~
I'm also an Aussie player, and for the most part the netcode is really good. I never really notice any lag while doing PVE content, and though I don't PVP much, it seems fairly responsive there also.

I won't go into a huge rant here but I find the combat is very fast paced and responsive - if you're an FPS fan then the combat system will probably feel similar and enjoyable. Reaction times and aiming are crucial, and take priority over the more static combat you'd find in a typical MMO (eg cast skill, wait for ridiculously long cool down timer, repeat etc).

The cash shop items are almost exclusively cosmetic. The outfits that you can buy with cash provide small stat increases, but the "best" outfits can't even be bought with real cash directly, instead most commonly being bought with ingame gold on the market place.

The only thing that is fairly nessecary is wings (they increase movement speed), however there is a dungeon towards the end game which drops an item that can contain wings inside of it.

You can play and enjoy all the content in the game (and become one of the most powerful chars in the server) without theoretically having to have spent any money on the game whatsoever, so in that regard, it's one of the least "pay 2 win" free MMO's around.

I hope this was helpful!
