I just cleared that the other day.
I found that distributing rubies more evenly between my multiple weapons helped a lot (but you already have that with enough points on blacksmith), that and running crit and damage increase for a long time with WK mask.
I used a crit build with ambush. Something like 11 points on rage, 1/5 on fireflies, 5 on photo, 5-10 on ambush, 5 on cunning, got STR to level 3 or 4 and put everything else split on nimble fingers and right on target, well not evenly split, I put a bit more points on nimble.
You can leave the shard and reach the level 40 on the first one to increase your flame, but I don't think its worth, just leave the game on while running damage or crit with WK mask on the boss, come back after every hour or two, spend points and rubies, before you know you will be dealing huge amounts of damage.
Btw, don't run only crit or only damage with boss souls, switch them around sometimes, they are multipliers.
That said, I believe there are other older threads about this subject.
A few quick points.
Any skill you boost, requires as many skill points as you have put into it, to double the over all damage you are doing.
So if you put 20 points into blacksmith for instance, it requires another 20 points just to double your damage.
If you put points into ANOTHER skill that boosts damage it's a seperate multiplier.
So for instance...you have 20 points in blacksmith, you could invest 20 more points in it to double your damage OR you could invest 10 points into widsom and 4 points into enchant to multiply all your damage by 3x (mind you, if your using rage you would need to ALSO invest 20 points in photo to cover the extra cost.
If you are going for on target (which I suggest vs bosses), make sure you go up to Ambush before taking wind mask. This saves you points in the long run.
If you are doing a crit build, aim for 1/5 on fireflies and 5 on ambush.
In the first galaxy I did quick runs to quickly boost my max energy using the free u-potions. Keep doing runs till you can rush through to 30 (pumps your flame anyway), and then just put the bare min points you need to zoom through (don't even go for blacksmith) and invest everything into the skill that boosts your max energy. Aim for 400+, this will make using ambush later WAY easier, and reduces how many points you need in fireflies/ambush.
You want at least 2 crit rings and hopefully 2 damage rings, which you should be able to hopefully get in the first galaxy. I believe it's the same order initially from boss chests but I'm ot 100% sure on that. Both times I played I got 2 strength rings and 1 crit ring, and I had a vodoo doll as well.
Before doing your final run, reset the shard until your vodoo doll is a type you want (strength or dex).
I used rage myself with wind mask, but you can go with the one that doesn't use clicks (because you'll be getting the clicks from wind mask + auto-click, you can still boost fingers.
If you go with the none rage build you don't need to boost photo to increase your enchant, and you eventually end up with more damage as well. I just liked the speed of rage + wind....but it's up to you.
I went with something along these lines.
10 rage/20 blacksmith/1/5 fireflies/20 fingers/1 Wind mask/5 ambush/20 on target
I believe that is what I used back then, I did not start swapping in enchant till later, but I had more skill points by that point.
The above required me to just use wind mask damage and crit for the last few stages before 50 to take the boss down easily. Ambush ensures all hits are crits, but you need to be active and use it right away on the stages before the boss, so you save up a bunch. You might need to boost amubush a bit more (to 10) to help as well.
gear aside, since with this simple build you don't need anything specific except to have upgraded your noname dagger at least a few times and at least one wisdom ring for cursed shards, the build itself is pretty simple, and there are two separate builds for different purposes within the class.
you first get 5 lvs in march, since this is the common denominator, and start it. this is a decent boost by itself, and gives you a timer for stages of your runs. with my builds, if at any time your march runs out, perform a ritual, you weren't fast enough. once you've started marching, it's time to decide whether you want to push or farm. in both cases you want diviner's luck, but which mask you choose is different. for pushing, take the fire mask, for farming, take the pilgrim mask. building up to diviner's luck gives you the magic amp on the way. drop 5 in there.
if you're farming, drop 1 on blizzard, and get 5 in ice swords. in cursed shards, get enough mana breathing to have 30 mana, since you need this to cast your blizzards with. the mask will take care of the casting for you, and you don't need a lot of mana or activity for this, you just need to make sure you don't let march drop because your magic damage will suffer. when you get to diviner's luck, drop 5 in there, then upgrade all your lv 5 skills evenly until they're lv 10. heading back to the strength tree, if needed, get enough strength for indefatigable, putting 5 in blacksmith along the way. when you get there, put 5 in indefatigable, and again upgrade your lv 5 skills to lv 10. put any remaining points you get in the run into blacksmith, march, indefatigable, magic amp and ice swords, and i reiterate, when march drops, perform a ritual.
if you're pushing, you'll be manual casting when you get to bosses. in the magic tree, this differs from farming in that you don't want blizzard or ice swords. get one lv in spider mixture, 5 in mana breathing and 5 in mana lump. in cursed shards, get enough mana breathing to have 75 mana for your casting. more is better, so wisdom rings are great here, but otherwise, mana lump and mana breathing replace ice swords in the farming build. build the strength tree the same way as with farming. once you have them all, and diviner's luck is at lv 10, the skills you build evenly are march, blacksmith, indefatigable, mana lump, magic amp and mana breathing.
mana breathing in the pushing build serves two purposes. firstly, mana lump is expensive. mana breathing, as the name suggests, speeds up mana income, so you can cast quicker when your mana is drained, but it also raises your max mana pool, which not only allows more casting in the initial burst at bosses, it also raises the damage of mana lump, and so is another multiplier in the mix.
have fun with this. it's not as fast as the poison or crit builds, but it does allow quite a bit of leniency in timing, and a lot of laziness. i run these builds while watching dvds or doing other things, and i leave the farming setup running overnight.
