I've read some of the reviews and while this game does still have a lot of bugs, they're not game breaking and it is beatable. I've only run into a few bugs in my play-through, an few of which have been addressed to the bugs thread for the game. I managed to beat the game with a playtime a 6 hours which isn't too bad in my opinion and I'll be honest my character looked so cool by the end. There are a few things I would change though. I believe it would be better when after you evolve a part onto your creature for the first time that you can switch to and from those parts again for free or at least a reduced point fee. Also, while I like the idea of a random color picker for your creature, It would be nice if there was also an option to custom pick your colors rather than just playing for chance that you end up with one you like. Lastly, if a creature has parts that provide it with different attack options, There should be an option to pick from the possible attacks rather than let the game pick which ones you get. Other than those points this is a really fun and cute game and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a fun character building game.

Okay, here's a list of why it is not a good thing to buy right now:
Currently, it has quite a few bugs and polish issues that make for a sometimes frustrating gameplay feel.
It does not have tight controls or camera work, making navigating a constant battle against the game. Dealing with flying enemies can be a chore, given how it controls when jumping/flying.
Freezes are fairly common, and the UI can be a bit jank in the menu. Also speaking of the UI, there is no minimap.
Travel points are few and far between (One per realm, usually somewhere in the middle of it) leading to a lot of back tracking on the hunt for parts. Assuming you're a completionist like me. But even then, there's not a great way of telling what you don't have, so it becomes a bit of a guessing game there.
It lacks any kind of sorting or search function for your parts, and afaict there's no combination synergies or really anything special to the parts. You can only have two moves, even if you take multiple parts that have attacks assigned to them.
The aesthetics are basic but colorful and enjoyable. and it reminds me a bit of Maplestory back in the old iteration of it.
Overall though, it wasn't what I had hoped for, which was a good platformer with a lot of creature customization for movement changes.
It's a kinda almost good platformer, with a few creature options, and a lot of arbitrary level design.

Okay, you know something? I disliked this product enough that when I see reviews like the following ones, I came back to edit this just to say "No, these are misleading, don't play this game."

Other reviews and what I have to say about them:

This person had .5 hours on record, and clearly didn't play the damn thing. Polish? What polish? And what a generic little review! 'There's bosses and hidden paths'. That is maybe the weakest thing I have read said about a video game in all of my life, and I have read reviews for CoD games that have included 'It has many guns'.

I'm sorry, innovation? Where? How? It's 2D Spore as a platformer. This is not innovative. There are no new mechanics, nor creatively implemented mechanics.

This game is SO FUN!!! Very glitchy, but fun! I paid $10 for this game and while i would usually be upset I paid so much for such a short and glitchy game, this is the first platformer I have wanted to play and was ABLE to play. It may seem very easy to people who are good at platforming games but as someone who never played them growing up this game was just perfect. There were tons of cute creatures to murder and steal body parts from and the customizations were amazing. I loved everything including the bright colors, cute style, way the creatures moved, and the music.
Having said that the game was very glitchy. Several times I had to restart it because I was not able to pick up health items, and once because I glitched into the floor. There was even a game mechanic that I thought was a glitch but turns out it isn't. Spoiler alert: Having a tall creature means you can't hit short creatures anymore.
None of the glitches prevented me from finishing the game and having fun in the meantime. The game closes and reloads very quickly so it wasn't a huge issue.
Even with the glitches, I will play this game again and evolve into something twice as horrific. Happy hunting!

Asking for a refund. It looked like fun but the bugs make it unplayable.

Pros:
Great thematic, fun evolutions, goofy bits make it fun. The trollish traps are hillarious when you think you're being clever and get mauled. LOL

Cons: Game breaking bugs.
- Bosses will drop to 10% hp and then take no damage.
- You get stuck in the floor and have to Alt+f4 to get out of the game because escape doesn't work.
- Bug where you can't regain health
- Bug where you can not finish off an egg cache

Conclusion:
I doubt this game was play tested to catch these glitches.
in it's current bugged out state it's more of a F2P game than a 10$ game.
I'd like my money back please.

But.

With all that's going for it, I'm sure with a little bit of polish this would be a phenominal platformer deserving of expansions.

Don't be deceived for this cute and brilliant idea for a game.
It is filled with game breaking bugs, forcing you to restart the game and load back in.
This game hasn't had any updates in years, it has been abandoned, there's no chance these bugs will be fixed

If the game breaking bugs were fixed, I would give this a 10/10

Once you get to what I imagine is 1/2-3/4 of the way through the game, you get an armadillo snout. Don't use it. Killing anything with it completely locks you in place.

TL;DR - I'm a sucker for evolution style games so perhaps there's a more lenient review in this post than more critically minded folks. I can't recommend this to someone off the bat, knowing what I know now after purchasing it and experiencing the bugs and such for myself, but I look forward to its future state as the devs polish and bugfix the game. For the price, it's a fun game you can sink a few hours into. I recommend grabbing it on sale. There are a few bosses, some progression gates and a few hidden bits here and there. Despite the fact that it allows for replayability after defeating the final encounter, I don't really find myself wanting to make another playthrough, since it doesn't add anything new.

The rest of this is my observations and suggestions. For what it's worth, hopefully it helps.

For younger audiences or those unfamiliar to the genre there was little in the way of instruction aside from a wad of controls info plastered on the screen at the very start of the game. There was no story, no guidance, no real sense of direction aside from "reach yggdrasil", "I haven't been here before" when discovering a new area by chance and lonely arrow signs in some of the more sparse areas. What is Yggdrasil? Why do we even care about reaching it and ascending? Even the NPC's (who we don't know anything about) don't really have much to say aside from a cryptic sentence or two about the upcoming bosses. A world without substance is like a world without string - absolute, meaningless chaos.

I'm going to have to echo the other reviews here in saying that there are some disruptive polish issues and some unintuitive interactions with the individual parts you unlock as you explore and defeat enemies, but the biggest peeves I had were primarily customization and QoL related. The biggest game breaker that I discovered that I haven't seen mentioned so far is that part combinations that make your character taller cannot bite smaller opponents at all of hitbox issues. It was a stupidly frustrating experience that leads me to my next suggestion - when we pay currency to unlock a part, it should stay unlocked to reduce grinding. Who wants to backtrack and grind currency at 4/mob to unlock a set of 4-6 parts that only get more expensive as time goes on? Having part previews in the menu for those who wanna create a look rather than a ball of stats would also be super helpful.

Color changes should be selectable, perhaps for an increased cost versus randomized results. It's stated that as we grow more powerful we can get more vibrant hues, but maybe after we progress through each boss we get information as to which colors we've unlocked? By the time I had killed the second boss I had unlocked saturated red, green, fuschia and cyan RGB colors, it left me confused as to what the game's definition of "powerful" or "vibrant" was.

Stacking parts with multiple combat abilities should allow us to select which abilities we wish to use - it was very disappointing to unlock a neat thing and be unable to use it because of parts I already had in use. What if I wanted to use a manticore tail spit attack with an armadillo mouth Rclick attack? It's impossible with the system as it stands now.

The last suggestion I have is a personal preference, but for the love of god a map would be nice. With as large as some of the levels are, it gets really tedious to do the old school platformer tactic of banzai'ing off random platforms to find new things, especially since checkpoints are pretty scarce.

Decent game, seemingly inspired by Spore. The platformer element is well-executed and rewarding, and the art style looks pretty neat and appearling for a game that costs less than a dollar.

What is Micreation? To put it simply, it's a pretty simple platformer that comes with an interesting mix-and-match-based traits system. This means that you can harvest DNA from enemies you've defeated, and integrate the DNA into your creature in a way that Dr Frankenstein can only dream of. Sometimes, this means you'll gain some extra stats; other times, you might even get an extra skill or two, However, note that you can only have 2 active skills at a time in this game - a fact that's not conveyed anywhere in-game.

The game also features some rather interesting boss fights, varied enemies (though, you'll start to see a pattern in the mechanics after going through a few levels), bonus loot to find, and a generally chill gameplay for a competent fan of platformers... though, the game might come across as being somewhat challenging if you're not too familiar with platformers in general.

+ Love the unique, mix-and-match-style evolution system here. You really can come up with the weirdest creatures by mixing and matching features, and even unlock some new skills too, such as being able to fly a bit while double-jumping. You can collect better features by defeating enemies and hoping for DNA drops.
+ Stats-driven progression. You'll want to strive for parts with higher or better stats.
+ Gives off a "Neopets vibe"
+ Lots of hidden stashes of DNA and golden eggs for you to find
+ Well-varied enemies. However, the mechanics used here are pretty similar.
+ Interesting boss fights. Can be tough too, if you're not familiar with platformers in general.
+ Child-friendly art and gameplay difficulty. Though, you don't get to choose a difficulty level.
+ No death penalty
+ The price seems right

- Please make it a priority to fix the bugs and the game freezes/crashes. Nothing turns away potential players from a game faster than these issues, especially for a game that's supposedly a "full release" title.
- Polish up the controls. I've often find myself "sliding" slightly on platforms, usually after landing from a jump/ double jump, when that's not supposed to happen.
- Add in a cross hair or something (maybe a bubble shooter-like targeting system?) for ranged attacks to help with the aiming. It's hard to estimate the distance of your ranged attack when it seems to vary randomly.
- Maybe add a note so that players know that they can only have 2 active skills at a time, and to not to waste precious coins on upgrades that will give them 3 or more active skills because they won't be able to use the extras. Plus, let us players CHOOSE which skills we want to keep if there happen to be more than 2 active skills.
- A map that can be accessible anywhere in a level would be helpful.
- No unrandomized colour customization. It'd be nice if we could color our creature ourselves rather than spending 10 coins for a randomized set of colors.
- Maybe place the equipped feature/creature part on a separate box above the rest of the selection for easy comparison? It's like freezing the topmost row on a spreadsheet.
- Quite a bit of backtracking is required, which can be frustrating, especially when coupled with the lack of a freely accessible map. Some levels more than others.
- Not much of a storyline

Despite not being the most polished indie game around, Miscreation has a rather interesting mix-and-match traits system, allowing you to fully customize your creature, part by part. Not only can you see the physical changes you've decided on, some parts may even grant you extra skills too! However, due to the issues the game faces, Miscreation isn't able to achieve the sort of level of popularity that it deserves. Still, if you're into easy-to-get-into platformers that are unique, there is definitely space in your wishlist for Miscreation. Wait until the major issues are fixed before buying the game to save yourself a load of headaches.

Had fun for the beginning, but the fun VERY QUICKLY started dropping after I beat the water area. I got the game when it was on sale, and it most likely wasn't even worth the sale price.

I was looking forward to making my own little creature evolve my way but APPARENTLY the parts follow RPG Item progression logic where each part was strictly better than the previous ones.
AND there's this glitch where your character just sorta freezes up and either keeps moving in one direction or stays in place until hit by an enemy or spike patch (really troubling if neither of them are present).
The lack of OST didn't really help either. (Royalty Free Music does not a proper OST make.)
Bosses aren't much good either. The fish one which I can't for the life of me recall the name of just has a water attack that takes up half the arena and I just stuck my butt right on top of him to avoid the attack.
Got stuck on Rosaceae 'cause of spike pits, spike PROJECTILES, and the attacks took sizable chunks off my healthbar.
The lack of Minimap was also a bother for me.

OVERALL: I was promised fun, but I was betrayed HARD at the desert area.
