Who is Sarah? Sarah was the nurse of Thomas Beresford, son of Anne Beresford. Thomas come back to the Beresford mansion in 1880.
Who is the big man? Samuel. He bought the mansion in 1920 and transform it into a hotel.
How all the Berseford family died?Game doesn't explain how died each member of family Beresford. But we know that Matilda Beresford, wife of Robert, died when Victoria borns. Robert Beresford died shooting himself when his daughters came of age. It seems Charlotte was the rest of her life in a mental institution. Matilda Beresford (daughter) was killed by Victoria.
About all the others questions.... Chloe and James adventures are in a nightmare. They never went to the Beresford mansion. They never met the Beresford family. And Emma was never dead. There are a lot of documents talking about dreaming and the need to perpetuate life. The Dark Unknown is close to death and its only chance is a new body (James or Chloe) and its only way to get that body is dreaming. The Dark Unknown was Victoria. It was Sarah. It was Samuel. It was the Lonely man. It was... another unknown person. And now it needs a new younger and more vital body.
Thank you very much for explanation. And the last question (I know I'm being annoying, but I really want to know and I'm interested in it very much): What is the Origin of the Dark Unknown?
Fear the Dark Unknown tells us that an unknown being was resting under the Beresford mansion, but the construction of the basement and Victoria and Matilda Beresford playing there caused that unkown being to come out of its lethargy.
But... how and when was the unknown trapped in the catacombs below the mansion? How long was the unknown being resting in the catacombs? There is no answer in Fear the Dark Unknown.... but maybe in "Damned by the Dark Unknown" ;)
From what i understood the Dark Unknown (a demon of darkness or something similar) enter in the people's dreams and corrupt them, it feeds on them, making do to the people affected horrible things, such as killing son/daughters (Samuel's wife that kills their daughter if i have understood correctly), sister/brother, or self-harm acts (Edwyna breakthrough her eyes, Nora cut her ear, Robert shoot himself), bringing them into the madness.
Althought the lonely man don't kill anyone or make horrible/self-harm acts...
The Dark Unknown was sleeping (he is stunned with few forces left in the catacombs), but has been awaked (many writings recite "awake" in the mansion) by the construction of the basement and Victoria and Matilda Beresford playing there.
So my question is: the Dark Unknown can enter in any dream of any man around the world, or it is necessary to visit the mansion? And the lonely man what has he have committed (bad/horrible things)?
It's not necessary to visit the mansion (James and Chloe never go to the mansion).
And the lonely man never did any horrible thing. His sad life was enough to allow that Dark Unknown took his body without effort.
Thanks for all of the answers. I just completed Chloe's story but I don't understand either of the two endings "kill" or "forgive". Which one is cannon and can you please explain both of Chloe's endings? Thank you. :)
Both endings are cannon. James and Chloe are in a nightmare loop.
If you choose forgive: It means Chloe doesn't accept what she did it (kill her father). And because this you see her looping into her mind, repeating the initial fake message in the phone, and "going" back to the mansion in her imagination.
If you choose kill:
It means Chloe has accepted the truth. Twisted by a lie, she killed her father in the apartment 609 during the moving. James and Chloe fell down in the nightmares of Dark Unknown, apartment 608, and Chloe killed her father affected by the lie the Dark Unknown put in her mind: Her mother (Emma) died in a car accident because James abused Emma.
At the ending, when Chloe kills her father in the loop, Dark Unknown opens to her the right door. The path to the truth. To a safe with a Death Inside. A photo with all the family (James, Emma, Chloe and Ethan) during the moving the previous day. And seeing this photo, and understanding she has killed her father by a lie, is how Chloe's mind disappeared and Dark Unknown possessed her body (like it is doing during hundreds of years, as is described in several documents).
Finally, Dark Unknown leaves apartment 609 (its previous body lies sitted in the apartment 608) and got in the car with Emma and Ethan to live its new life.
Thanks. We know how the saga continues, but we want to do a sequel with an higher budget than Fear the Dark Unknown. We want better voices, animations and increase team to do a better game (Sequel always should be better then previous game). At this moment we are very far to get the minimum budget to work during 2-3 years in the next chapter of FTDU.
Because this we are working on another little project (only 1 year development) while we finish consoles porting to get enough budget.
Stay safe too!
The game is fantastic, I hope you are very lucky and we will see the sequel soon.
the new project will be available on steam?
Yes. The new project will be available for PC/Steam and consoles. And it will clarify the plot about Fear the Dark Unknown.
