Hi, if you've had a chance to gather some coin, visit the Trader who's set up shop at Robin's Village. He offers many useful goods, salt among them!

Agreed I understand I can purchase from a trader, but was thinking salt mine or way to produce as it’s used a LOT :)

Gotcha. Well, apart from that, there's just looting. Salt is included as a drop all over the game's world.

So.....can we not just hunt/gather to cook food? That seems a bit off with a hunger system, initially at least.

I'm not too far in and been puttering about gathering wood and meat etc and have just tried to cook it and cannot without salt.

Is there any way to get food?

1. Hunt doe
2. Buy salt
3. Cook doe meat
4. Sell portion of roasted doe meat for insane profit to buy more salt

As an aside note. I think the economy of this game should be reworked a bit. It should not cost anything to craft on workstations. You should be able to refine raw materials for a profit not a net loss over selling raw materials. So far the doe farming is best way to make coin in game that I am finding.

So that's this games take on "rob from the rich and give to the poor" because they will starve to death without the means to buy salt.

Well as long as you can buy 1 salt for (6 or 8 coin?) you can start the cycle. 1 doe meat + 1 salt sells for 26. Doe meat by itself sells for 10. So you turn 16 into 26 and repeat until you can buy stacks of salt. You have to hunt the doe though but its a way to maximize profits. Again I really do think the economy needs to be slightly tweaked. I would really love to see other resource chains produce more money and a way to generate a lot of money from the village but so far I havent found it. Maybe late game it exists?

Hemp farms generate 300 pennies pr cycle. Get a few of these and it will start adding up. Workers can be assigned to hunt doe, so thats 20 pr unit, and 400 profit from a full storage.

you get food by hunting does and other animals and then use it to craft food at cooking station

Which requires using the trader. I was criticising that one cannot eat without spending money even while providing the food.

Yes, you can. You can just eat the meat raw. No need to do that, though, you can simply sell a bit of meat or the hide and buy salt.

What's actually odd is that you can't cook the meat without salt. Not sure why you can't do that.
