Palladium Pickaxe

Hi, I'm a but confused here.

Blacksmith Lv2 unlocks the Iron Pickaxe and the Palladium Pickaxe.
That stats of the Iron one are
Mining 12-15
Damage 1-3
Sharpness 3
Weight 5
Durability 200
The flavour text says "I've had better tools in hand, but it'll do."

Now the Palladium Pickage has
Mining 14-18
Weight 3
Durability 180
Everything else is the same.
Now, this flavour text says "The durable material used in it's crafting allows for exacating crucial resources"
So... my take would now be, that you need this specific pickaxe to mine a specific resource, but what I don't get is, why has it lower durability than iron, when it's said to be a durable material???
