Hunting kinda sucks!
If you're curious about what good hunting in a game should look like, take RDR2's hunting as a example. In my opinion there's far too much foliage and the camera is at awkward angle, meaning it's pretty difficult to actually spot anything. And when I do spot something, it's already running away even if I was nowhere near it. 5 meat also doesn't really feel sufficient given the amount of work put into it and how vital it is, compared to cutting down trees or picking up rocks.

I kinda lost my interest in playing it while doing the hunting, so don't have much more to say about it. Can't complain about the game though, it looks pretty and I didn't have to pay for it! Yet.

Spotting/identifying things in this game definitely is a bit challenging. I wouldn't mind more visual cues of some sort, or some sort of 'hunt-o-vision'. The one time I ran into bandits, it was very much a game of 'What? Who's.. *OW* .... shooting... *ARGH!* .. at me, I can't.. *OOF* ... see anything here! *THUD* STOP THAT!!

Of course, after writing that, I decided that, oh well, I'll give it another try after quitting in frustration the last two times - and run right into four deer in a row no problem, and spot them quite easily too.

Thank you for the comment, I'll pass the suggestions to our development team. New updates are coming up so we encourage you to play again and give us another chance ;)

i found just waiting at the waterside where the river split , down south of the settlement will just have them show up - if you go a bit from the camp site theres a waterfall where you can stand up hill, from there have a complete view of the surrounding, once you spot one its just chase & shoot - but the first few runs were frustrating too yass ... i think the selection wheel is too sensitive, my mouse keeps flipping it 180degrees at the slightest touch and there's no ALT-keyboard or something shortcuts, that would be a great help thanks .
Lots of stuff coming out of Poland in the last years, this looks great so far -

Same. I quit playing the demo after doing some hunting. I did not want to have to go through that for more meat. I have been waiting and watching for an update, to see if it changes.

Yep, I was "silent/hidden" the whole time and the deer just kept running all over the place. Not once did I see one grazing or walking normally. It was like a bulldozer was plowing through the forest and they were just constantly running full tilt from it. I quit the game after getting 15 meat as it was just annoying.

I for one found the challenge of having to listen for my prey and try to locate it without scaring it quite enjoyable.
The seemingly lack of stealth allowing me to sneak closer is something I dislike and would like to see more of.
But I also understand that not everyone enjoys that kind of thing so if there are to be more visual cues I would like to suggest these come as options that people can choose to use or not use to suit their gameplay.

I just went up into the hunters nest and boom.

I spent most of the 31 mins I played the demo out try to hunt deer. THE HUNTING IN THIS GAME SUCKS. Not only can you not see the deer well, especially while crouching, but the deer spoke BEFORE I can even see them. And even if I get them in my sight AND use the slow motion feature I STILL don't come close to hitting anything. Either the terrain gets in the way or the deer shifts directions abruptly. The whole experience left me frustrated and bored.

I finally killed a deer. I had to eat the meat raw to keep from starving. I have no idea what the cues are for tracking prey (if there are any), all I see is deer running far away through a jungle of ferns & brush. I have yet to come upon a stationary deer, yes I've been in "stealth" mode. Please let me first person or at least zoom in & out of third person. The model position & third person perspective throws me off for some reason.

I like the fact that it's so difficult to shoot a deer with a bow from the ground.
It's realistic.
With this in mind, I took out the two tree ninjas between the northern and central hunting spots and once in their tree fort, 6 kills came pretty quickly though it was still pretty difficult as I bagged each one on a full run.
They shouldn't spook with me that high up and not moving simply because they're close to me.

As stated above, need a means by which to release the bow without loosing the arrow.
And the payout for a kill needs to be much higher.
5 meat per deer and 20 for the bear?
Should be more like 25/75.

Loving the game and can't wait to see where it goes!

I think it's "R" by default you have to hold while you release the "fire" button.
It's convoluted and just pressing a button to release without loosing the arrow would be better.

I would agree that the deer scare way too easy. I think having them walk or stand still more often would be nice and you should be able to sneak up on them from behind. Especially since that is what the tutorial/tips suggest when learning how to hunt. I lost interest after getting 10 meat due to how long it was taking to find a dear that wasn't sprinting away in the distance.

I found a rather easy way to deal with that problem. On the map you have areas with a deer sign so I went there. I camped out at a river, waited until the fawn came to drink and got the necessary meat in no time.

The only thing that bothered me was that the meat just fell on the ground rather than getting it from skinning and gutting the creature.

Thank You for the feedback, we'll check out selection wheel sensitivity.
