How important are Calendar Events?
I'm enjoying everything about the game except Calendar Events. I don't understand the extent my game is impacted by participating or ignoring these events but with every event that passes I feel like I've missed out on something special. I prefer to just lose myself in some quest or exploration but the Calendar keeps reigning me in to keep me on track with events I often can't even travel to in time (I'm aware of Shift Click to teleport on the world map because it's Early Access, but i'm trying not to cheat).

TL;DR: How much am I ruining my playthrough by failing to participate in these calendar events? Are some unique while others are more of just challenge zones?

I'd like to know that too. Only because of your post, I looked into the calendar, and now I got the tutorial info, that the game can change (and have negative consequences????) if you ignore certain events... great...

They're not very important yet, as is there won't be any actively bad consequences if you don't do them or anything along those lines - you just might miss extra exp or rare resources an the like in some of the events.
But it's planned to be more developed and fleshed out, ofc, with time, and some wouldn't be so smart to ignore when they are, it seems (although I don't think any will be really game ending or such).
Oh, and to clarify a bit more - yeah, there are different kinds of events, with some adding only minor gains and similar, some being a bit more unique in appearance and what you may get from them, and some will be even more important and have certain consequences...

I went to the Wolfenglen Woods for the Huge Walking Tower event. It blasted me to bits 3 times in a row.
