Some time ago, I've tried catching chickens and pigs (without bait, just corralling them towards the trap), as well as the deer (the most promising, since you can find deer bait as random loot sometimes, so I've used that), but none of them were successful.
And yeah, you don't actually need bait for the slimes (you can't even use the ham, since you eat it when clicked), it's enough to aggro it, and the slime will follow you and and catch itself if the trap is in the way.
So for now, the taming is a fun albeit very bare-bones addition that's yet to be really worked on (and hopefully will be).
Just out of curiosity, where do you find deer bait? Is that in chests, or does it drop from certain enemies? Thanks!
As for deer bait, I had some from random loot as well. When I clicked to use the bait, it didn't place it or even consume one from my inventory stack. I had the same number before and after.
