The Bloodline

The Bloodline

Infested with bugs
The game seems great, love the skill system. However, it is god awful in it's current state regarding playability.
- If you don't level up individually, you lose the state bonus.
- Enter cooking menu and come out, now you see your beard and inside of face and can't change POV.
- Ragdoll is 50/50 whether it happens or not when doing the exact same thing.
- The turning system is infuriating. It turns you fully on the spot rather than incrementally, like every other game in the world.
- Don't like fall damage? Jut click jump when you're about to land and it doesn't happen.
- Change the keybindings in the menu but the visual notification doesn't change, and oh the old keybinding is also still valid. In fact, sometimes it just doesn't care about the new keybinding and forces you to use the default.

The game could be great, but you need some coding help. This has everything I wanted out of Gedonia, but I'm going to shelf it and forget about it. See y'all in a year or so. As it is, can't justify the $20, maybe $12 a few months of polish.

I must be approaching 70 hours played and the only one I can say I have experienced is keybinds don't work much. It's being worked on. Fall damage can be avoided with the Grapple and with the Cloud Catch spell anyway and probably with the Springheel Boots I engineered too. Ragdoll seems to work fine, I don't get the glitch when you exit the cook menu, turning works as it does in every game I have ever played but I use mouse control to turn so I have no idea how you're turning your character.

I'm not directing the following comment at you, more to people who think they're telling other people in the forum something new but it's something they already know. It's both amusing and irritating. It's an EA game, but while many people SAY they understand what EA is in fact they absolutely don't. They always trot out "I know it's EA but...", which is basically just whingeing for the sake of it and lack of patience. 😄

If you've only experienced the one bug in 70 hours you either aren't paying attention or are the luckiest person on Earth.

The problem is that Early Access is way too broad of a term. In one game it might mean beta testing stages, feature complete, fixing bugs and optimization and balancing passes. Others are little more than a tech demo. Right now this falls much closer in the latter group, major features are basically non existent (town building for example) and unless you know what specific actions to avoid it's nigh impossible to thoroughly explore an area without experiencing some manner of bug.

Revisiting this at 8 hours in. I tried again as I really wanted to get into this. My first save disappeared. Started again and the game crashed because I jumped too many times at once. Basically if you keep hitting jump, the character goes into freefall state and you can't do anything else.
So I made another save and the game glitched on the level up screen because I alt tabbed to a browser. Once I went back to the game, cursor disappeared and I couldn't click on anything or exit the level up screen. Oddly enough I could still go into stealth, but couldn't turn or walk. Started again - went down to the guy to learn the spell deciphering. I did the first word and finished with him, exited chat and turned around. I accidentally clicked him while facing the bookshelf and it bugged out - put me in a chat with him I couldn't select anything for, couldn't exit from. I could only walk forward or backward without turning.
Next save, I avoided doing things and went very very slowly to keep the bugs away. I'm trucking along and two hours into this save, but as soon as I got into a fight with a mushroom, it kicked me into a tree and I couldn't move again. Can't load, save, open inventory, anything. Force close the game and reload - no sorry your entire save chain is gone.

And I know what EA means btw. I mostly only play early access games and have been ever since early beta Minecraft. This is by far the worst experience I've had from any game.

Same here. Love the premise but the game isn't worth twenty quid if you're spending off that time fighting against bugs.

EA shouldn't mean a bug every five seconds.

I'm sure if a bug was critical enough to ruin my game it would be impossible to miss. As I say, I have never experienced the ones you mention, that's for sure. I'm at 75½ hours now so I guess I must be the luckiest person on Earth.

Did you submit a bug report? If so, I hope they look into the issues for you speedily.

There's me just being truthful, agreeing I may be lucky and hoping they resolve your bugs for you for you! You seem socially inadequate if that comes accross as arrogant. Anyway, toodles and have fun.
