The Bloodline

How is this rated?
I'm wondering if people are rating this game on what it COULD be rather than what it IS? The game looks great, but I'm sure most of us have bought 50 EA games that looked "great."
I want this one to be good...

This game is the exception to the rule and it IS good, right now. It's made by one guy but it shames many a triple A game costing £50+ for innovation and content. Obviously it is EA and people want things like comprehensive keybinds and tweaks here and thaere but that's to be expected. Honestly, I put 67 hours in since it was available to purchase which is 50 hours more than I bothered to put into Starfield.

It's off to a good start for a SP experience. It uses asset packs for its graphics but conveys its world well enough for my taste, it's more about gameplay for me and I enjoy the systems in place so far. It's missing some big QoL features like full keybinding and controller support, but the dev has promised these things are coming. It's got bugs as well, but that's EA for you. If you want a better look, check out Splattercat's review of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWJEHq38zR4

Thanks for the replies. I'm with you on Starfield, I returned it. Maybe I'll pick it up and see how it goes, seems like it's good.

theres a lot of potential with with little is in it and all the placeholders in atm. but its also pretty bare bones atm. its pretty cheap for what it could be though so if you are willing to risk EA id say pick it up. on the other hand if you want something with at least a minimal amount of content you may way to wait 6 months or so for it to flesh out some more.

It is surprisingly well disigned for a game using this kind of graphic assets.

I mean, you can climb, wall jump, wall run, use a grapling, to climb, slow your fall, or even propel you across a chasm.
There is gore and dismemberment. Tons of skills and spells, Every actions you do has proficiency and gives some XP. There are Random events, some having a lasting impact on the game world.

Also I don't know other games that allows you to drop a freaking physical metor from the sky on your ennemies head. And by physical, I mean that's a real boulder that will persist in the ground until you leave the area.

Some of the creativity is almost mind-blowing. Every time I try a new school of Spells on an alt I see how ingeniously the spells have been made. Some are incredible, such as making an object into something you can sit on and use to fly, I mean, what a surprise THAT was!

Honestly. It is a buggy mess of ideas. . . . but it's so fun. I don't care that I need to save and reload often. I don't care that I have to intentionally not use overpowered abilities, I don't care that a lot of it doesn't work and isn't implemented. It scratches an itch I didn't know I had and I have yet to have an "I wish he'd thought of adding this..." moment that I've had with so many other games.

You ever had that notion of jumping off the highest place because you did it that one time in assassins creed? Dude PLANNED for that impulse as I just discovered and you unlock a secret spell from it. LOVE IT.

You can swing like spiderman, you can wall run, you can climb any surface.
You can wall run, grapple swing, wall run again, then summon a cloud to float you to the ground.
you can turn into multiple bird forms as a druid and fly all over and speed run into enemies killing them with physics. Mounted combat is here and actually very well done. Tons of skill. 100s. Archery is good. 2 handed swords feel so meaty and go so well with the paladin tree. Unarmed, though I haven't tried it looks SO FUN. Quests all over the place, Planned events you can see on a calendar or never look at it and be surprised when you go back to the gentle pretty forest and find it covered in death fog with 100s of zombies all over the place, but no worries because ♥♥♥♥♥ Im a paladin and banishing the undead is my bread and butter. So spend 20 minutes doing that and gaining all that sweet sweet divine favor.
Bless sad souls.
Spear goblins with holy javelins.
Call down golden swords.
Become a barbarian.
Tame a rabbit.
Ride in a mechanized barrel car.
Enchant a chair with bat wings and fly off into the sunset.

It's every weird and wonderful thing I've ever wanted with a shiny RPG coating.

and its $20. How do you beat that??? I paid 70 for starfield and have barely played it because bethesda is so damn boring now with all the safety feature crap. I love it here.

If Starfield had this level of ingenuity, creativity, attention to detail and love I'd still be playing it. Even being naturally incomplete because of EA I have never, ever run out of things to do and places to be. I'm getting the materials together for the barrel car, have some useful Heli-Bots and, my favourite thing I have made up to now, a 200 damage flintlock sniper rifle! The telescopic sight is phenomenal... and I can even use it to zoom in and fire off ranged spells. Honestly, the number of "wait, I can do THIS now?" moments are SO satisfying.

Right ? :) so much to do already. Definitely needs more filling out but it's already easily worth the $20 in today's market.

Ahahahahahaha... no, seriously... Ahahahahahahaha. Anyway, that's as much as I'm saying about low-effort cashgrab. Well, no, NOW it's as much as I'm saying as Starfield.

Starfield suffers from Bethesda and Microsoft's constant need to pander to the lowest IQ possible player. Most NPC are unkillable, because God forbid you lock yourself out of a quest.

Meanwhile Baldur's gate will let me stab anyone that looks at me sideways and has replacement NPC's FOR THEIR REPLACEMENT NPCS. You can kill tieflings in the grove. And new tieflings will show up to the tiefling party. And if you kill THOSE tieflings, then OTHER tieflings will show up that were "out scouting". Now that's game design. Meanwhile a pirate on starfield says "Watch your back, Im coming for you" So I shoot him in the face and nothing happens. He's protected, no one reacts. Stopped playing right there. So boring.

Q about the specs, is it likely this game will be unplayable even with 16gb ram?
