how do you get wood?

I am walking up to trees, hitting E, trying to hot them, burn them, hit them with my sword. how tf do you get materials?

IIRC, gonna have to look out for sparkling trees for now w/out weapon in hand - that system is causing some of the same problems fm, clearly not working as intended.

There are also resource nodes on the Overworld map. If you approach certain trees you should get a quick pop up that says press e to chop down pine tree or birch tree Etc. So far I have also found an iron node that always spawns near the harbinger Castle. By the way resource nodes on the Overworld map don't seem to have any level requirements.

There's no glowing trees or rocks for me... Shame, I really wanted to like this game...
