was given a horse - how to use it?

Im doing the quest ''the steps of eros'' - Geoffery Woodkin told me i can take a horse - i see a horse around but cant interact with it, how do you get/use the first horse?

Geoffery gives you a donkey, accessed by opening Inventory and, on the left side of the window, select Mounts icon. Click the green button on Donkey.

I just pop it out in random places like it's a pet, atm useless for actual use.

You can mount it, the prompt is just kinda weird. Press forward and hold shift to spur it faster.

The easiest mount to control, and the best mount in the game, is the Flying Broomstick. It is mouse-steered, very fast and is fantastic for flying high above the trees to do a recon for points of interest in a zone. I'm not a fan of WASD-controlled mounts that use Left Shift for sprinting.
