Placed trap,
Walked behind the rabbit, when I hit X the rabbit ran into the trap.
If you have the traps, you're good to go to the Hills. If you do not, walk straight forward after arriving in Elderglen and take a right to the Fletcher's Fowl, it's one of the two buildings that have the 2nd floor bridge that goes over the road. You can buy Small Hunting Traps in there for 50 coins a piece.
Go to the Hills and set up camp, your camp should set up in a spot where the road goes down hill towards where most of the rabbits spawn.
Run down, and then use stealth, which I think is typically bound to X. After you get fairly close, press C, which toggles the slow motion at the cost of stamina. Usually the rabbits are super slow to react in this mode, so you can quite literally get close enough, and plant the trap directly on top of them.
Tested this twice now, and both times you could just slap the box down on top of the rabbit and then interact with it to get the minigame, and then afterward you've got it as a companion. You can find it under the cat icon in the inventory.
I have submitted a bug report. I'm just wondering how you guys are using Sprint to get the rabbit through the heart symbols?
It would seem the hearts don't spawn across the whole mapnin sam quantities or at all (especially near the edge of the map, in my experience), so always try to set a trap somewhere towards the middle. I had successfully tamed both rabbits and slimes that way. But if hearts never show up for you no matter where on the map, then it really might be some king of bug...
There's a difference between Animal trap item, and Animal trap building / decoration. The item you get for the quest or you can buy it at the fletcher shop, and use it by clicking in the inventory, while the decoration one is, well, just a decoration that you can put only in your village in front of the keep, just to customize the place, I believe (in the future all specific decorations will affect what kind of npcs/ followers will come to your village).
Just asking, dont want to seem mean, but you have all 4 fingers and thumb? I have long fingers so just slap my pinky down on Lshift and hold W, only tap A/D when needed dont hold them. Its old Micro Machines controls
Not yet, but in next update you should be able to buy it in certain shops, or atleast in that fletcher's shop in Elderglen, if I'm not mistaken.
