The developer is not going to read a forum post on GOG if they have no game published there.
And yes, I do worry about DRM. Since Valve has stolen from me once (Agony Unrated), they can steal from me again. Since physical games are no longer a thing, DRM-Free is the next best alternative.
How did they steal that game off you ...
it would still be in your library
Read into it - the devs took it up with steam and people got their games back - it's also a free add-on to the standard agony (Is what I read)
Check your library again ?
The first one was the 96% discounts on the lost game.
Then it was a creation of a DLC that contained the whole uncensored game on top of the censored game, with a launcher prompt which one to launch. Of course the achievements were still tied to the censored version.
I just re bought it while it was on a 96 discount and then moved to GOG soon after.
NO ONE, not valve, not publishers, not Santa Claus, should have the right to remove games from our libraries. Unless money goes into our accounts, the whole code for removal should not exist.
While the developers did their best to fix this, they were under no obligation to do so.
This is why Steam sucks and this is why I no longer care for it. Support did not care either and were completely dismissive. And why wouldn't they be, when the EULA says that Valve has the right to yank any game for any reason at any time without warning?
On the other hand, As long as you download your installers (And I always do), it doesn't matter what happens to your GOG account.
The GOG user agreement states that should they ever go bust, they will notify everyone and give them 60 days to download their stuff. And they have a proven means of doing that already.
GOG gives you a sense of ownership, while Steam is just another unreliable renting service. Lawmakers should ban services, like Steam from using the word "purchase". They should all say "lease".
