Best way to get characters past lvl 150?

Currently all my characters are maxed at lvl 150 and need to "star up" to progress. What is the best way to do this as when i click on star up there is no evidence of what I need to do in order to keep progressing. This is frustrating as I can't progress in the game farther than my DPS aside from trying to upgrade gear.

Slowly trying to figure these things out myself. Honestly the upgrading process is confusing and not very clear at all Sorry that I couldn't be of help as I am in the same boat.

suprised noone anwserd yet, when u hit lvl 150 i think ure heroes are lvl 5, 5 stars below them, if that is the case you need too star them up to a yellow star that means lvl 6 in hall of heroes. after that when hit star up you will see what you need too star them up more. i hope it helps

or rather gold, star lvls are yellow 1-5 purple 6-9 red 10 and over

Thanks, I was wondering why some 1 stars were to the left of my purple ones with 5 but I see that they are above and I was able to level one to 180 before I got a new way to ascend them, so it looks like I at least can get all my guys to lvl 180. Thank you for the help
