I've an honest question
Why Battle Royally exactly?

I am looking at the trailer on Steam and it looks neat enough, but I do wonder why the decision to make it a battle royally game.

I guess this was answered somewhere before, and if it was feel free to link me to the comment on it.

Regardless, good luck with the project, even if I won't be playing it.

Blazing Sails indeed is a battle royale game. However, Blazing Sails really refreshes the BR genre by combining it with fast-paced naval combat. A full server also only needs 18 players for now. That's six 3-players crews/ships. Also teamwork in Blazing Sails is way more important than in other BR-games. You can't just leave your crew and go on a killing spree. Because if your ship sinks, your whole crew is eliminated. As long as your ship survives, you can keep respawning.

Personally, I wasn't a big fan of the BR genre either before jumping aboard Blazing Sails (pun intended). I do heavily encourage you to still give it a try. While the game is in Alpha, it's free to play for the time being, and you can get your key simply by requesting one in the appropriate channel on their Discord: https://discord.gg/PxhvK9

P.s. thanks for the kind words at the end, we always appreciate people checking it out, even if it's not to their liking :)

You are welcome to try it (alpha is free!) and let us know what you think.

While bread indeed has to be put on the shelves, I still wish to remind you that Blazing Sails is being created because we love video games. Both GetUP Games and Iceberg Interactive are made up of immense nerds that wouldn't do anything else but make great games. :)

Yeah i am not seeing how this games going to have longevity come weeks after launch. Sadly br's rely on active players and a small indie is not going to hold them for very long.

Looks for me like Sea of Thieves ^^. I don't know if there are a lot differences between your games. I hope there is at least 50% new and inventive if not that i sadly can't see lot population in this Game. :(

B2P Battle Royale? I hope this does not end like Hunters Legends Arena, where the player count dropped within 1 week to a level where no more matches can be found.

I would absolutely buy and play it if it had an offline option. I hate that every single co-op game seems to be battle royal these days. Definitely not my cup of tea, I just want to play a game with my friends that doesn't stress everyone out or where we can just play without having to worry about getting murdered by ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ players. I was really hoping that is what this game was. :steamsad:
