Report a translation problem
That being said, it IS possible (or so someone else said), but probably the first mod that would come first is replacing "Herlock Sholmes" to "Sherlock Holmes"
Replacing the whole script with SS's would be herculean, but replacing lines or names with SS's versions or adding back in omitted racial slurs should be possible.
I think importance and release of any mods to the script should be:
1.) replace name changes like Shlomes and Wilson.
2.) Add back in removed aspects of the script that hold importance. This includes slurs, lines that are better translated in SS, or other name changes that are subjectively better in SS's.
3.) changing things that may or may not have been localized in SS's that should be put back, such as name order used in the Japanese release.
Admittedly, I don't want to have to be the one to play through these games with the the incorrect names or the slurs removed in order to check what needs to be changed. It would be cool if SS themselves did this. Man, I love their translation. I think a lot of things they note in their translator notes will be what Capcom has changed, and those should be what's fixed.
I also could be wrong about how easy it is to edit the files.
And I am thinking on the whole "Scarlet added slurs" thing. We know Capcom updated the original japanese release of the 3DS and mobile versions to remove 12 slurs[scarletstudy.gq]. But in cases where Scarlet added slurs where there were none, then we should default the the original Japanese release and make it more accurate. If there was a slur and Scarlet may have localized it as something more intense, or less intense, then we should figure out if it's appropriate to change it. But from what I know, Scarlet did a good job, and the "added slurs" do seem to be the minority. I have only just heard about these today from this forum, so maybe there has been more scrutiny given, or it's just come up now for me.
Capcom did a good job conveying the writing style and took really serious both Japanese and English localization and not to disrespect, but I think this is being a bit entitled or rather not understanding what translation and localization is about. The surname/name order is altered in localizations for a reason.
you guys do not deserve any transaltions at all tbh
