Do I need to play the previous games?

I've only played the Phoenix Wright HD trilogy and not the previous two Great Ace Attorney games (Adventure and Resolve). Should I play the previous two before starting this one or does it not matter?

Oh, did you think that "The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles" is like the third game? No, no. lol

It's a collection that contains both Adventure and Resolve.

Yes I thought Chronicles was the third game and not a collection of the two previous ones.

They're set 100 years before the previous AA games so you'll be fine. And unlike those games, perjury actually exists in this universe lol. They must get rid of that in the mid 1900s lol.
