How does it compare to previous games.
Ive played the trilogy and really enjoyed. Does this game have really interesting trials, long and engaging stories, and the amazing characters and rivalry of past games?

I've played the entire ace attorney trilogy as well as AJ and DD. I finished the first TGAA game and am going to play the second now and I would definitely say so. The characters are amazing and the humor is great too. Trials are pretty interesting. I like that this game has more of an overarching plot of Ryunosuke's journey as a lawyer, it feels more connected than the previous games in which it seemed more like random cases thrown together (although that's still good and fun). I like the prosecutor's vibe and rivalry with Ryunosuke.

These games were written by the original writer of the trilogy, which is pretty cool. The newer Ace Attorney games like AJ and DD were written by different people afaik.

Only potential problem is that the pacing can feel a little slow at times but it's still very good, don't worry.

Edit: Oh and the music is great too. Bangers all around.

Enjoying it as well. I actually prefer the trial I have played in this game so far. It's different from the trilogy ones [exclude the 1st trial].
I think it's worth.

The first TGAA is, as far as Ace Attorney goes, not stellar. Most cases in it are either short or not the full experience. It takes 4 cases til you actually have an investigation and a court section in the same case, and even that case is kind of simple.

However, Cases 5 through 10 are absolutely amazing. Ace Attorney games are usually very good at capitalizing on mysteries they've set up over the course of the game, and TGAAC does this over 2 games. Game 2 is very much a continuation of Game 1, more than any previous entry in the series. And it's because of this, that the payoffs in the final few cases of Game 2 are absolutely grand.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is my favourite Ace Attorney game to date. TGAA1 might seem a bit rough around the edges but keep going and I feel like you'll come away satisfied.

And even if you're still on the fence, get it for my sake, so that Capcom keeps making more of these games lol.

That last statement is so true. I doubt these games are anywhere near as popular as capcoms other ips like monster hunter or resident evil. So supporting these games is a given if we want more.

It's better to see the game as a ten case series. The first half is basically set up for the last half. It has some pacing issues and I feel some cases could have been merged.

It def. has slow start, but keep going and enjoy the ride, ♥♥♥♥ gets real later on and what seemingly filter cases are actually important. GAA is the evolution to the ace attorney series that DD and SoJ should have been in the first place.

It is as what those previous replies have stated, the first game can seem pretty lackluster but the main juice of the overarching plot comes from the 2nd game. I suggest you to see these 2 games as one entity, which means its a full game with 10 cases that builds and builds upon its mystery. If you've played other visual novels like Umineko or Higurashi, their story runs over the course of two games. And the plot is separated in Question Arcs and Answer Arcs. Question arcs is when everything is being set up while the Answer arcs is when every mystery is explained.
