dont called payed beta or free beta testers "research"
As explained in the Dev Diary, there are way more steps before releasing a game: Beta as you called it, Alpha state, Concepts & Testing.
During the very early designs we have sent surveys to our colleagues internally to collect feedback, then as we progressed more persons were able to test the features, professionals & players up to the beta were more players supported the final efforts.
**Research is a whole and very long process that involves multiple if all teams internally + externals, and not only in the final Beta phase.**

I'm somewhat confused about the symbol for sexuality on Hanna's vanity character; is that meant to represent bisexuality in-game? I'm pretty familiar with the different symbols for gender and sexuality but, that one is new to me.

Good catch ! I tried looking at this: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/ck3-dev-diary-11-seduction-torture-and-the-intrigue-perk-trees.1316277/ to see if there was anything that could help but nothing. Not sure what it can be.
It's nice that consensus is an integral part of development. I'm glad Hanna acknowledges that:

> But of course humans are complicated, and it’s important to remember that while we use scientific methods our job is not to produce scientific results. Instead, our job is giving our colleagues a heads up on how to tweak things by providing a basis for discussion and re-design.

I wonder what's her opinion on:

Well, social sciences also have the problem of skipping the falsification step. So I don't take much away from anything calling itself a "social science"
As a King in Reallife i can say: Thank you for taking on our problems ! :kcdgkw:

I believe it does, yes. I don't know much about that sort of thing (I'm an old man living in Japan), but what I can say is that I don't expect they intended to use popular symbology. More important is to have symbology that's easily identifiable in the context of the UI. All the other sexualities seems to fit the two gender symbols side-by-side, so for this one to add a third to the line makes it easy to spot in comparison to the others.

Please read the actual dev diary before knocking it.

Ah, user testing, I get it – you’re QA/Quality Assurance!

Oh, how many times I hear that! But no, I am not. Very, very simplified it’s kind of like this: When QA evaluate a feature they report on it in a yes/no kind of way – Does it work? Yes/No, so here’s a bug report.

When User Research are asked to evaluate a feature, we look at the game from a user perspective by trying to test and gather feedback on things like how well players understand the game, if any menus are confusing, if players are having fun, etc. This can be done in a variety of ways, but for Crusader Kings III we mostly used playtests where we let 2-15 players that match a specific profile (in this case – PDS strategy players) into our lab to play an unfinished version of the game while watching and recording them and then we brought video clips and player feedback to the dev team.

This literally appears on the fifth line of the diary, friend. All you had to do was click it open to see this.

just preorder royal edition, i hope it wasnt a mistake and DLCs worth it...
Thank you for removing those atrocious cartoony portraits, we play CK2 to not play Civ 5
So, this makes me extremely happy. I love Full Stack Designers gathering meaningful research and observations on user engagement with UX!
